So we're flying to WDW in October for the first time this year. We usually travel Thursday- Saturday or Sunday (9-10 nights), so we've booked Thursday, October 10th thru Saturday, October 19th. I understand that the 11th-13th is a holiday weekend, but I'm shocked to see how high ticket prices are right now! (We're flying out of Hartford - BDL.)
There are a few not-as-outrageous prices, but they're the 5+ hour flights with connections, and we're traveling with a 4-year-old with Autism and cerebral palsy and would like to minimize transitions. I know not to hope for the $200 RT that we've had in the past, but $400+ RT per person is a stretch for us.

Anyone have any idea if prices tend to go down at all as we get a little closer to the dates? It's still over 4 months out. TIA for any advice!

Our October flights are more expensive than the past few Octobers. We can usually snag RT flights from D.C. for $150-$170 per person. We needed a one-way ticket to MCO for the start of our honeymoon on Oct. 20 and the flights started at $178 (for one way!), went up to $228, then once they fell to $167, we bought. They have since fallen again to around $135 (we got nice travel credits for the change. And I know we've gotten cheap flights in the past because we're willing to fly out at 7 a.m. on the way down and 7 p.m. on the way back, but man, double price for an afternoon flight?!?!

Bottom line, figure out what you're comfortable to pay and pounce when you see it.

Congrats on the "Disneymoon"! We don't mind if we have to fly out early, but we'd really prefer to have an afternoon or evening flight home, and right now the flights home are ranging from $178-$222 one way! I guess I'll wait it out a bit and see, but I'm getting a little nervous....:surfweb:

Hi, DW and I are going the same weekend. We are leaving early Friday morning and returning in the evening on Monday. We are flying out of PVD (Providence) on Southwest. The prices weren't too bad. It's a little over $600 for the both of us roundtrip.

It was actually lower. We booked right on the day that the booking window opened. But our schedule changed a little so we had to make a change, which increased the overall cost by about $120. I find that the key to getting good rates on Southwest is to book right when the booking window opens up and grab the Internet Specials. I also always pay for the Early Bird Check In now.

Have a great time!

Denis
