I thought about booking the one fare for my departure date but the only fare allowed by doing that is the full non-refundable fare. I guess that I would then rebook for a round trip when fares come out?
I've almost decided we should just drive, by the time we drive to the airport, etc., we'd oly be saving about 4 hours, and would cost us about $1000, Course, then I see about the big wreck on I 95--who knows.
Originally posted by 4greatboys Gail I tried to just book the departure date but it said I had to book round trip. Of course this was trying to book the cheapest internet fare. Any suggestions how I can get that cheap fare and only book 1 segment??
did you select "none" for the return? I have played with it for various dates from various locations and some don't have the promo fares available for one way and others dates do. Some have internet one way fares only. Apparently it depends on the day you are leaving. IMHO, if you cannot get the "cheapy" fares for a one way or the " internet one way fares only" right now, you may as well wait.
Anyone know when they might start booking into august? We are going the 8th-22nd. TYIA. and thank you Gail i've been reading your posts you are very informative and helpful. You are great!
That does look like a pretty good price from Jetblue. They dont fly out of our area--or Song either. Normally the cheapest we can find is SWA. We were planning on leaving Sunday May 30 but found the rate is over $30 cheaper per person if we leave Saturday so I think thats what we are going to do. We will just book a couple of All Star rooms with AP rates (hopefully) and still be saving money. Looks like we are just going to miss you at BWV.
For fun, I just ran your dates, and I came up with 525.00 for 3 tickets on SWA with N/S flights. 175.20 pp all taxes included.
What did you do to get such high fares?

Thank you for the kind words, made my day!!! As to when they will open up for August, I would not expect that much before March or April. They are usually 4-6 months in advance.
Did a little comparison, in case anyone's interested. We just changed our trip from Mon. 5/3-Tues. 5/11 to Sat. 5/8 to Sun. 5/16. Well, the Southwest fare for the original weekday trip, Hartford to Orlando, was only $520 (for 3), but we had to book the same flights on the new weekend dates for $710 (for 3)! Either those dates were really popular and the "cheap seats" sold out in 3 1/2 hours, or they just offered higher rates for those weekend flights to begin with.
For us, Song out of Hartford wasn't that much cheaper and had less convenient departure times. JetBlue and Song out of Logan are not a desirable option for us, since we'd be putting any savings right back into paying to park for the week, and even with the new route, I still worry about sitting in traffic. Glad JetBlue has made it much cheaper and easier for some, though. About time!
Same thing with us - traveling May 7th and 15th from BWI (Baltimore). $207/person!! I want the $160 tickets! But the flight back on the 15th is want costs more! Unless I want to fly at 7 or 8 o'clock in the morning which I can't since we are just getting off the Magic at that time! I wanted for weeks for these dates to come out and now I'm not happy. I think I will just wait and see if they discount the early flights on the 15th.
Last year we flew SWA from MCI (Kansas City) to MCO for $161.00 departing on a Sunday and returning on Friday. This year we are paying $237.20 departing on Wednesday and returning on Thursday. A sunday to Friday trip would be even higher. If we could come back on Wednesday, we'd save $58 but we're doing a 3 night cruise and then spending 4 nights at WDW. I don't want to cut back our time at WDW. Now if we could save $58 per person and come back on Friday, I'm sure I would be able to extend our trip! LOL!
I miss SWA offering their discounted fares every day of week like they did last year. Oh well . . . we can always drive like my DD and I will be doing in March as all non-stop flights from Kansas City or St. Louis to Orlando were over $300 per person! I will only fly non-stop because landing hurts my ears even with using earplanes and taking prescription antihistimanes and decongestants.
In April & May 2002, we paid $106 RT from Kansas City to Orlando.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I have done the very same thing. Luckily, I caught it before I finalized it.
I could have sworn you had three people going, that is why I used three for my examples.
Maybe we should ask for a board where we could double check our fares before we book them. I know it could help me.
Hey at least you are paying the same on Jet Blue. It couldl have been a lot worse.
