SouthWest is offering 50K points Credit Card again

When using SW points, if you find a 'cheaper' price for tickets I know you can rebook. My question is, if you reschedule, do you have to pay the $10 government imposed September 11 security fee again or does it transfer also? TIA

NO you do not have to pay the taxes again because you have already paid them. It will transfer if you are using points to rebook. If you are using cash to rebook then you will have a $10 credit sitting on the canceled confirmation number. When you book with cash use the confirmation number from the canceled flight on the payment page and it will apply the $10 Remember you have one year from the original date you booked your flight, to use the credit.

The $10 payment will NOT be credit back your credit card unless you booked the fully refundable fare.

When do they start counting the 3 months for the $2,000 to qualify for the points? When you are approved online or over the phone or when you receive the card in the mail and activate it?

Thanks.

I had asked this exact question on another thread and was advised it starts the day you are approved. We did this for my DH for the Business card about a week ago and we're still waiting on the actual card. I have some things waiting to add to it :)

Thanks, I just need to wait another day or so then to apply so that my 90 days/3 months will cover my whole Disney trip in May. I do room only reservations so I wouldn't be paying for the room until checkout.

Our statement closing date was Thursday, Feb 13. The 50,000 points show up on our online credit card statement, but have not been transferred over to the SW Rapid Rewards account.

When will they show up? I am ready to book our flights for July...

Thanks - Kathy

I would guess they will be there tomorrow. Mine only took as other day or so after my statement closed.

I know it's a little late, but I wanted to say thank you for posting this deal. I got my new SW card and will pay my sons college tuition bill with it. (And then pay the credit card with the tuition money)

Then, I can ly free to Disney for quite a while! Yay!!

YAY, I got approved this morning! I plan to get to my $2,000 by paying for my May trip and my tax bill (ugh!). I won't need to use the 50K points until my November trip. This should be enough for me to actually make at least 3 round trips.

I have both the personal and business versions of this card and points credit 2-3 days after statement closes. If you access your acccount online you can change your statement closing date, which would allow you to move up when you receive your points (Assuming you've already met the spending requirement).

If I got the personal card for the 50k points last year for $69 fee, can I get the 50k deal this year with the premier $99 fee card?

Yay!!! Just used some of my points to book round trip tickets to WDW for my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter for our July Family reunion!!! And still have a bunch of points remaining...time to start planning that Disneyland trip I have been wanting to take :)

Your welcome. :cool1:

Anybody know if the annual fee charge counts toward the $2000 spending threshold? I'm pushing to get my $2000 spent before my second month closes so I have the points when the schedule opens up.

I'm pretty sure that fees do not count towards the $2000. I thought I read it somewhere but I can't find right now. I'd honestly err on the side of no it doesn't count.

Perhaps someone knows for sure that will post.

Wishing they had the same offer for a "company" credit card because DH and I both have one but our company does not .. bummer.

Thanks I will make sure to spend the extra bit to be sure I'm covered

The annual fee does not count towards the $2000. We almost did not get our points because we had just spent $2000 with fee. Just by chance we called to check on our points and that is when we found out we had not spent enough. We had to make a purchase that day in order to get our points.
