Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

Does anyone know if you can use these points in conjunction with points that I currently have?

Also do the points have to only be use for my ticket or can I purchse tickets for my entire family?

the pts are just added to your Rapid rewards account....their is no seperation of other pts and credit card pts.

Yes, you can book for anyone. I used mine for 3 tix (only one of which was me!)

Thanks for the info! I know that AT typically offers one non-stop option per day. I don't care about the times since it is just DH and I, but I know we want the non-stop flight. If it were to be unavailable on points, I'd be out of luck. I guess since we are planning to fly in October 2014, those points would still be good, right? I assume you can book flights for others using points, right? If we couldn't use the points this year and accrue more, could I book seats for my family of 4 under one account? I guess I am used to AT where each person has to earn and redeem their own points.

I just got this offer in an email. I think I may try again, even though I did the deal before, and cancelled last summer, since they sent it to me by name in my email.

What I dislike about Airtran's A+ Rewards credits is that they expire after a specific time (1 or 2 years, depending on your status). SWA points never expire as long as you have activity at least every 24 months. So as long as you do something that credits points to your Rapid Rewards account, your points won't expire! The easiest way for me to do that is by using the SWA Visa, but you can also do some online shopping through the Rapid Rewards link! :) Or, book a SW flight! ;)

Yes, you can use points in your account to book flights for your family. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! With AT leaving (eventually) and SWA moving in, I know that we will be flying with them. We typically fly once a year, at most. If we take our annual vacation over Easter, we drive since airfare is outrageous. I might have to look into this.

We've been accumulating Rapids Rewards points over the last 14 months in anticipation of the day Airtran is no longer an option. That will be a very sad day for me -- although I'm sure I'll become a SW fan once I start flying them! :thumbsup2 (and Delta is really the only other option I have out of ATL to Orlando :headache:)

Can someone tell me more about this? Is the 50,000 points offer still available? About how many tickets will that get you? I could use any help. Airfare is out of control and will be the deciding factor on if we can go this year...especially since I need SIX tickets!:sad2:

Yes it is still available. You need to use the link above. It says 2 tickets/50K points but when I look at the trip we are taking this summer (seattle to chicago) round trip is about 30,000 miles so I don't see how that's going to get me 2 tickets. anyone know more?

I did this deal last year, used the points for our trip in May... flew 4 people from Wisconsin to Disney roundtrip for $0!!! It was great! I cancelled that card in November right before my annual fee was due and I signed up for the deal again. QUOTE]

Was your trip 25,000 pts /ticket? I am use to miles with Alaska and I am trying to figure out how I am going to get 2 tickets out of this. Dh and I will both sign up so we can hopefully get 4 tickets and then we just have one kid to pay for.

We use our alaska Visa for EVERYTHING. This yr I can pay preschool tuition w/ CC so that is great. pay as many bills w/ it including cell phone. I will just prepay my tuition so I will get the miles taken care of for sure for both of us.

I just looked at a flight that for six RT flights it was 118,000 points....so if both my husband and I got a card, it would get us five flights for free?!? Seems too good to be true??

Not too good. I flew 4 of us from MN to San Fran to LA and back with our 100,000 points.

Greats, I'm a bit worried though...wondering if SW is going to drop nonstops from my airport. Right now the furthest out in August (we are going nov.) there are only 2-3 flight per day from Detroit with only one being a nonstop....and no nonstops out of flint...wonder if that's a sign of things to come?....

Can someone with experience tell me....so if you get the card, spend the $2,000 in the first month...how long before the 50,000 points are added to you SW account and you are able to use them?

yes....you can call and find out your statement closing date. You don't receive the actual statement/bill in the mail for a week-week and a half after the actual closing date. If you have spent the $2000 by the closing date then the points will be in your account the NEXT day. Lots of people told me 4-6 weeks. However, I checked my account the day after the closing date for the billing cycle and they were there-on a Sunday. And I used them that same day to book 3 roundtrip flights for myself, DH and child.

I just want to add, if you look at your SWA Visa account online, you will not see the 50,000 because it goes into your Rapid Rewards account immediately! At least that has been my experience. I'm used to (with other rewards accts) seeing the points or $$$ transferred from the charge account and that wasn't the case with SWA. It said "no rewards earned for this period" (or something to that effect!) but there was the 50,000 in my RR account! :thumbsup2

VERY GOOD POINT~! Check your rapid rewards account-not your credit card account-a day after statement closing!

Also once you're able to view your statement online, it will state how many points were transferred to your RR acct. It lists how many came from SWA purchases, which earn double miles, and how many were non-SWA purchases.

Just applied.. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it still 50,000? Because all I have found is 25,000 with a new card. I have one, trying to decide if I should get another one. Not worried about my credit.
