I just wanted to post this for myself mostly. Tickets went on sale throug january 7th today. They were available starting around 7:08 am.

I can never for the life of me remember the release time!

Happy flight searching.

Oh, Thanksgiving is ugly. It's sold out for most Wanna get away fares for my go-to airports. :-(

Are they kidding with those prices? They are more expensive now than when gas was $4 per gallon. $325 R/T from San Antonio? I think I'll try JetBlue, I've never flown them, out of Austin for $218, including one checked bag.

My dates are SUPER high ... $500 RT. No thank you.
You have to get them within minutes of opening. My flight this morning was $135 one way, a few hours later it was already $205.

Last year we were priced out of Southwest so we tried Frontier for the first time. Ended up working out great for us.

When gas was $4 Southwest had hedged gas prices and prepaid for years worth of gas at a much lower price. They have since lost that price advantage.

The prices they had hedged with were more than current gas prices I believe.

I know I'm a day late, but they are released at 7am and sometimes a few minutes after. I logged on at 7a and they still werent there and kept refreshing until they were as we are flying at Christmas. PIT to MCO was actually pretty reasonable but the Wanna Get Away Fares go quickly

I checked at 7 am but they were not listed yet. Checked back at 7:30 and saw $92 but by the time I went to book it was up to $107 still a great deal for the flight down. But the return was much more and I ended up finding a better price on Jetblue - which I haven't flown with for years.

Southwest used to be pretty much all we flew out of Islip on Long Island. It's great not having to fly out of JFK or, God forbid, LaGuardia! Ever since they merged with AirTran their flights out of Islip have been horrible. Barely any non-stops to anywhere and the prices are ridiculous. Now we mostly fly Jet Blue out of JFK. I even got a Jet Blue credit card and use that one now over my Southwest credit card. I booked early yesterday morning with Southwest knowing that at least if the price goes down, I can change without penalty and get a credit.

That is a very nice perk on SW being able to change without penalty. I actually booked both ways with SW yesterday even though I wasn't thrilled with the price or time of flight. Then once I saw it lower and better price on Jetblue I grabbed it and cancelled the return with SW. Points were immediately back in my account. I may look into the Jetblue card too. I use the SW for a lot right now.

We have the opposite problem; we had great direct flights to MCO on AirTran from Bloomington, IL. The prices were great, and they were able to sell them out consistently, but after the SW merger, they pulled out of our market. I really miss AirTran.

I was waiting for SW to open up for our return flight on 11/7. While waiting JB went down $25 each to $129 each one way with one checked bag and assigned seats.
I booked the return on JB non stop from MCO to EWR before SW came out. The return time was also better for us.
My outbound from EWR to MCO is with SW with EBCI $106.98 each one way. Return on SW is $87 + $15 or = $102. I'm ok with JB..
JB also has more ns flight to Newark from Orlando, SW only has two. And it is Jersey Week. No regrets.

We booked SW for December and got ok prices. SO sad they are leaving Akron airport post the Air Tran merge, and not adding any nonstop flights from Cleveland to MCO. The next airport with Nonstops is over 2 hours away.
