I'm trying to find some low fares to travel to Orlando on October 10th, departing on October 13. We love Southwest, have used them twice before, but I can't seem to get a good rate. The lowest for two seats seems to be around $600! Should I wait for the rates to go down, or just book now before they go up? I really am not crazy about paying that amount, but looking around I found some fares for around $500, but with stops. I would just rather pay the extra $100 and go non stop with Southwest (we fly from Manchester, NH). Any good deals out there? Is this the best I can do? I know it is a holiday weekend, but the price still seems a little steep. Thanks for any help!

The prices are steep cause the less expensive fares are sold out, if you can change your dates, you might get something better.

We are in the same boat. I am freaking out, because I want to book but I hate to pay those rates especially if they end up having another good deal, but how do we know if they will have another deal or not. I am looking at airtran flights out of Boston right now, BUT the flights are not non-stop BUT they are only 49 each way for the dates we want. I hate this! I just want to book to secure our trip, but we are traveling on such a tight budget I really havre to look for the cheapest flight. What do we do?

When are your dates? I think I will just have to book, I just have to secure a weekend for someone to watch the kids. I may change my date if I can, the rates are cheaper at both weekends around Columbus day weekend. I don't know what to do either - good luck to you :)

things probably will not change until the current "fare war" sale is over ...

even though current internet specials end august 28 and are good ( supposedly ) til the end of schedule, the best prices seem to be for september travel ( in line with other airlines fare sale )

I've just changed my dates, and found much better deals. We are now traveling in November, and got pretty good rates - at least under $500.

I have seen some fares out of Boston on American for $223 today.
Might be worth a look.

Just an FYI - We fly Southwest often and have found that although many times you can get a great deal - when it comes to the holidays, it is VERY difficult.

We usually go to WDW for Mardi Gras and we always have paid full fare out of N.O. If we were flying out of any other city on those same days it would be much cheaper - but since it is a holiday for our city and there is such a demand for flights both in and out of the city - no deals.

Just food for thought when it comes to Southwest, they are like any other airline - they are going to make the most of the holidays and charge full fare.:(

I have yet to pay full fare for any holiday with SWA. I just book as quickly as the fares come out.

Do you think I should book with SW now for travel 12/27-1/14? SW has a refundable ticket price for the trip down (12/27)and an internet special price for the return(1/14). Should I just get the return internet special tickets (1/14) now and hope for a better deal on our (12/27) tickets? I really don't want to wait much longer. DH read in yesterdays paper that the airlines will be having a big sale after Labor Day. Of course he want to wait a few weeks longer. what do you guys think?

3forME: We are planning on leaving out of New Orleans The Sat before Mardi Gras (Feb 21st) I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be some sort of discount. However my question for you is : how were the crowds in DW for the week of Mardi Gras? I would love to go before but my husband refuses to take the kids out of school. Thanks For any info. ;)

If you book SWA now and the price drops you can rebook (assuming space is available at the lower fares) and you will then have a credit for future travel.

Thanks Gail. I'm not going to wait much longer then. You have helped me with travel questions more than once! I appreciate the information!
