I received an offer from Southwest that included a 50K point bonus if I sign up for a credit card and make 1 purchase.

I received my credit card today, but the packet that came with it did not mention the bonus points. Has anyone else signed up for this offer, and if so, do you remember if the packet that came with the credit card mentioned the bonus points? :confused3

no, the packet never has any information about the promo that you signed up with (i have several sponsored cards from chase and none did this) but when you activate the card the rep can confirm what promotion is on the account.

they say it can take several weeks for the points to show up but mine were in my account when the billing cycle ended (i made a 2.70 purchase  smallest credit card bill ever!)

Thanks for your help, miztressuz! This was my first time signing up for a credit card that offered a sign up bonus, so I was nervous when the bonus was not mentioned.

i know i hate that they do that, there's never a confirmation anywhere about what promotion you signed up for as some places can have multiple promotions running. i like stuff in writing so there's recourse if something went wrong. but so far, between hubby and i we have opened 4 sponsored cards through Chase in the last 2 years and every one has been entered under the correct promotion so they have a good track record so far.
(and yes, we're stopping now, there's only so many rewards one can use :) but we have airfare and hotel nights for 2 or 3 trips dirt cheap plus we got a completely free $200 Disney GC last year. all worth the very slight ding to our credit scores)

I am just wondering. When you apply and get your card aand such in the mail, you make a purchase, of any amount...when do they charge the annual fee? Can I pay that right away or will they wait until the 12th month that I have the caard? Can I open the acount, make a puchase, use my points for tickets and then close the account? How does that workk exactly? Can anyone help me? I would really like to apply for this card, since airfare is so much money but just wwant to be well informed!

Thanks, in advance for any help!

They charged my fee in the first billing cycle, so I don't think you will be able to avoid the fee.
