The internet fares I booked have gone done. I called southwest and she told me to go on the main page-under the travel center and hit the change itinerary tab to do this. I am nervous about this because what happens if the seats sell out before i complete the change. Has anyone used this option.

I have done it, and what I did before I cancelled the other flights was to look for the flight for 8 people (assuming your party is smaller) to ensure there were extra seats. If fares for the flight have gone down there probably are seats.

Your cancelled tickets should be available for purchase again immediately from what SWA told me, so you should be fine, but I was worried too, so I made sure the flight was not full yet!

Can this procedure be done the same way if the Internet price is now lower due to a DING flight price change?

Do they refund the difference or put it towards a new reservations?

I think if you re-book on the same flight you can get your CC refunded. It may also be possible to get a refund if you switch flights to get the lower cost but that may involve a little bit more luck. No reason not to ask, though!
