Southwest CC offer for 2 roundtrip flights

You pay your rent through Paypal? No fees? You don't have to use a bank account instead of a CC?

If you can use a CC through PP I suppose you can.

Does purchases thru PayPal count? I could pay my rent that way.

My boyfriend owns the house, I pay him rent. I could send it as a gift-no fees. I'm just wondering if they would allow a 'gift' thru PayPal to count towards the $2,000?

We signed up for the card and charged the $2000. The account just billed for the first time and I paid it right away. Does anyone know how fast the points appear on your frequent flyer account? We want to book flights in just about a week or two from now. Am I just dreaming that we'll be able to use the points for this!?

I was not just dreaming! We charged everything(car repair, medical, new carpet) during our first month on this card and had about 5000 points, plus the 50,000 bonus points. The points showed up just a couple days after I paid the bill(as soon as it billed) and then the dates for the flights showed up a couple days after that. What timing! We were actually able to get 3 round trip, non-stop, flights for about 54,000 points!

Now we need to figure out how long we want to keep the card. Even with the 6000 bonus points at renewal each year, I'm not thrilled with the $99 fee to keep it. We may just keep it until right before the renewal next year. They definitely make it tempting to keep the card though.

OP here, just wanted to post an update. After reading that others had received the bonus points even though they were previous card holders, I went ahead and applied. I was approved instantly and received my cc yesterday. There was nothing mentioned in the info that came with the cc about the 50,000 bonus points so I called and they confirmed that I would receive the bonus points after spending $2000 within 3 months. I have some med bills to pay so will be putting $2000 on the card this week. I had them move up my closing date to the 1st of Aug. to expedite receiving the points. They did say to allow 6 to 8 weeks for the points to be deposited into my account, I am hoping it doesn't take that long. Right not I can get 2 round trip tickets from ONT to MCO for my Nov. trip for about 30,000 points, so I will have some left to save for our next trip. If it takes 6 to 8 weeks I will most likely have to use the whole 50,000.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Hope you get your points quickly. We got ours the next statement after meeting the spending limit.

Does this card carry a monthly fee?

No Monthly fee, but it does have an annual fee that is offset by free points every year upon renewal. So basically you get the card for no fee as long as you use the points to travel.

The annual fee is $99. You get 6000 points at renewal each year, which is supposed to be worth about $100.

Thanks for the fast response!

Which is the better deal? The Rewards Premier or Rewards Plus card?

I have had this card for three weeks. For some reason I was billed the $99 fee yesterday. I thought the first year was free?

I have spent and paid off the $2000 limit. I was told from the Visa folks that the 50000 points would be acknowledged in my next statement but that it would take Southwest about 6 to 8 weeks before the points would show up in my account. I don't recall it taking so long last time. Anyone else hear something similar?

I paid off my $2000 as soon as I saw I had hit the limit online. I didn't wait for the statement to come. My reward points showed up in my SW account a few days later. Can't say exactly how many days, but less than a week later. This was just a week or so ago.

After reading the posts on this board I opened 2 southwest cards this year (the $99 and $69 annual fee cards) and received 50,000 points for each one, and was able to get the extra 10,000 miles in order to get the companion pass. I was able to use their links for online shopping to earn miles, and tied it to our car rentals to earn miles that counted towards our companion status. My billing cycle had just closed and I earned the pass. This is going to save a ton of money for us, as we will be able to travel much cheaper. I am so excited!!!!

for $138 I just easily earned the companion pass. (2 credit cards and spend) since I didn't really fly much on SW (we're very loyal to AA -- drowning in miles actually :rotfl:) but going to MCO over holidays to visit relatives (unf barely the mouse) can burn 200K easy. So w/CP we got 2 tickets for slightly under 25K each (flying peak Weds/Sun of Thanksgiving) and got 2 free of miles... only paid $20 total... and already saw a drop in pricing" so got 2K each put back in account. Love SW.

I just got my companion pass within 2 months of hitting both 2k on each card and spending another $6k to reach 110k points.

Just got the points in my account so did not have to wait too long.

Question: To get the companion pass, do you have to get to 110000 points in a calendar year? I have 104000 points but some of the points are over 18 months old.
