Southwest CC - 50000 Bonus offer - Would this work?

warning..... to those of you looking at the great companion pass deals..... do your homework before you attempt it....it isn't as simple as other pp's make it out to be (not too hard either, but you have to do it right) you have to get 110k points in the SAME rr account within one calendar year to get a companion pass- so both cc's have to be in one persons name. the 2 cards opening is the easiest way to get there, and the addition of 'choice hotel' points is another way to get to 110k,if you can't on your own.(google which transfers of points count toward this pass, not all do) Also be aware that you have to spend 2-3k on EACH cc you open to get the 50k points. And be aware that this deal isn't so great unless you can do that and hit enough spending to get to 110k without paying finance charges.(in other words, pay it as you go,the full balance)
there are blogs devoted to explaining these details, and it works nicely,if you are paying attention to the details. Including how to get that cp...... have fun!
I opened both accounts in January and used the cards to pay my property taxes and DVC dues. With the annual fees and the extra charge for paying taxes, the companion pass cost me about $450. Yes, you have to spend $4,000-$10,000 to earn the status. If you don't have normal expenses to charge, you could look into "manufactured spending."

Don't forget SWA has an offer that if you rent a car and make the reservations on swa.com you can get up to 2400 additional points with certain rental companies. Or get double RR points with other companies. Or book a hotel room with RocketMiles and earn points. I made a reservation last month and earned 7,000 SWA points when I booked one night at a Hilton hotel. Paid $119 for the hotel.

How do you transfer your Choice Hotel points? Do I do that through the Southwest site or Choice site? We frequently stay at Comfort Suites so I have points I could easily move. Does one Choice point equal one Southwest point?

I transferred my points through the Choice website. However, I just looked at the website, and it looks like they're in the middle of doing some upgrades and I couldn't find the transfer option under "Redeem Points". It's not a point-for-point transfer, though.

Here's the guide I followed back in February: http://millionmilesecrets.com/2014/03/17/southwest-hotels-points-transfer/

How do you all get the business card? Do you really have your own business?

Hoping someone here has experience with this question - I have a SW premier VISA and a SW Plus Visa. On the Plus, I received an offer to upgrade to the Premier, so I filled out the info online. (1) is the upgrade likely to be approved, considering I already have a premier card and (2) if so, can I then apply for a new Plus card in order to generate bonus points?

That will work, and you can use points for just 1 way on the first person.

The only thing to consider is that SWA RR is not a "fixed point" system. It is based on the flight cost. So just because the flights are 7,000 each way in March, does not even mean they will be close to the same in May. It could literally be double that amount, or half that amount, depending on prices. Book as early as possible, because you can always cancel and rebook penalty free is rates drop...

I doubt it. I accidentally applied for a second time for the Premier when I thought I was applying for the Plus and received a letter in mail letting me know I already had an account.

Get both the Plus and Premier SW cards. That will get you 104,000 (100,000 bonus plus the minimum spend). This should cover most of your airfare.

I've searched and searched but it looks like the current Visa Plus offer is only for 25000 points.

That's what I thought. It just seemed odd that they would even send me the upgrade offer, since they clearly know that I already have a premier card. They must simply mail it to everyone with the plus card without checking.

You may be able to walk into a Chase branch (if you have one, they're everywhere here) and get the 50,000. They often have better offers in person than online. I did that with the United card to get free flights to Europe. Otherwise, you might have to wait until they run it again.

Just signed up for SW RR program yesterday. The info seemed to apply the awards are for each person & you cannot use tthem for others ie DH & I would both have to have RR accounts to book free flights. From what is posted here, not true? So if I have RR acct, I could transfer points from Chase account & buy tickets for DH, DS & me from my account assuming I have enough points?

I'm not exactly sure what your asking when you say "transfer points from your Chase account." If you get the Chase RR Visa, the points automatically go to your RR account.

As the points holder, you can purchase tickets for anyone. You'll just need to enter their information when making the reservation.

We did this a couple years ago using the card to pay our balance on our room/ticket/dining package and hit flight prices just right so that all 3 of us flew to MCO and back for free.

For Chase Sapphire card, you can transfer points to a number of different airlines, one of which is Southwest.
