Southwest Booking

So will the lowest prices be available when they open the booking or something to watch over the next days? Airtran prices are just a little lower, though they do charge bag fees so i suppose that negates the savings somewhat.

I would love to hear answers to this as well. I know they often offer sales, and the price will go down. The good thing about Southwest, is that they will credit you (SWA credit, not back to your credit card) if fares go down without any change fee. So you can feel more confident in purchasing, if there is any chance you will fly them again (or sell the credit on ebay)

well, i'd fly them again, but probably not within that exact years time from the time of booking, which would be now, maybe from when the flight is, which is december. plus, if i buy for myself and my daughter, she and a friend cannot use those credits, is that right? she and i wouldn't be flying until the next dec at earliest, again. she will be flying in march of '13 but i don't think they could use the credits, right? i thought they used to be transferable but are not anymore, based on posts i read last year, here. this will only be my second time flying sw.

Just booked Southwest for our nov trip. Awesome prices great flight times. I was on their site just messing around and boom it opened yay Southwest.

Yes! I just had the same experience for our early December trip Got a morning flight to MCO for less than I'd planned to pay! I'm so happy to have that looked after!

Hope everyone else does as well we we did!

From Chi MDW to MCO Fri Nov 23 to Sat Dec 1st....7am flight leaving and 445pm, flight coming home is-----$315 RT.

all in all, based on what has been going on with SWA as far as high prices lately, I dont think this is too bad.

Although 2 years ago the day after Thanksgiving we flew RT for $220 PP.

Im still gonna hold out. I think I can get the day after Thanksgiving flight for cheaper than $158.

I may book the coming home flight on Dec 1st now. Thats a saturday and I dont see that coming any lower based on the time of year and the fact its a Saturday.

Baltimore to Orlando is still high 146 each way. Does anyone have the directions for rebooking to receive a credit if the flights are lower in cost?

I grabbed all our flights using up our Rapid Rewards and credits! 3 people, RT from OAK for ~$250 OOP after using everything else up. Now to get those ADRs ...:goodvibes

Was hoping the prices would be a bit lower but just booked our flights for Nov 16-24 from Dallas and they were around $135 less pp than the direct AA flights. At least our preferred flight times with no plane changes were the cheapest options each day. I will follow each day now to ensure and get any credit in case prices fall. Overall just glad to have it booked.

sat dec 22 through sat dec 29 - bdl to mco nonstop 130 each way. it is done.

Thank you Southwest!!!!!

I thought we had to drive (although I love a road trip!!). PIT $114 each way for Christmas booking. Finally I can stop this guessing game. :rotfl2:. Hallelujah - I was starting to get a tad addicted.

I used some old rewards and some points..although the point value was much cheaper on line than on the phone, so I did those on line.

I felt like I was in a race..when I first went on, it showed it opened..then I went back to change something and it was gone..then at 6:30 am ET, it came back and stayed back!

Pharmjenn-thanks for posting. I first went to the southwest site at 6:30A, it still stated open until nov 2. Popped over here to see what Disers were chatting about the schedule. Saw your post-back to the site- went ahead tried our dates and viola. Paid $158 each way around holiday travel to MCO. If it goes down I don't think we could even use the travel credit. But it is better than airtran and less than the $500 plus - the other travel sites are advertising. On airtran's opening day it was over $3000 for us to fly serious eek:eek:. I told DH let's drive that day.

I just checked Air Tran...their flights have now come down as others have predicted they would and they are now in line with SWA prices

Hm.... what to do. The prices aren't cheaper than the other airlines. Although, I'm trying to travel at peak times Dec 26 to Jan 2nd. Does anyone know if the prices will go down???

I booked my Dec 23-Jan 1 Flight only an hour ago...just a couple of hours after SW opened my travel time frame. I just went back to take a peek and my Jan 1 flight is already SOLD OUT!

So, my suggestion to all is don't wait too long to decide as it is a busy holiday season! :santa:

THANK YOU Pharmjenn! DH looked at SW at 7:30 and said don't bother - they haven't pushed out yet. But I went to my trusty Disboards, saw the posts and booked our flight before he came back from taking out the dogs:rotfl: I had already booked our Oct. 30 flight out of Manchester, NH. Got our return on Nov. 9 for $140 each. Comes out to $275 apiece RT.

So glad that I saw this thread this morning and was alerted to the schedules opening up!

Thanks fellow Dis Members for all the tips and tricks. Booking the airfare was what I worried about the most for this trip since it has been 6 years since we last flew. I thought the cost was going to be the most expensive part.

I'm thrilled that I was able to book 3 RT tickets for 75 bucks OOP! Got the times we wanted on direct flights.

The best tip ever was to get the Southwest Card!!!

I just booked Providence, RI to MCO... we used points. It was 15,500 a rt ticket for nonstop.
We took advantage of getting the SW rewards cc when it was offering 50,000 points after your first purchase. We still have 20,000 points left!

We are traveling Nov 19-30. We are limited on what we can fly on out of Providence. Plus no one beats SW bag deals. We get 2 bags a piece to check... even our lap infant gets 2 items checked!

SO EXCITED!!!!

Thanks... I did find a cheaper flight but really weird times and 2 stops. With bags fees from the other airlines we'd save $600. Not sure if it is worth the weird flight times like leaving at midnight. I guess, this is just a really expensive time of year to fly period.

I guess, this is just a really expensive time of year to fly period.

That's what I figured. I've never booked a WDW package at "Holiday" rates. That was what gave me the heads up it was going to be a costly trip. But when you promised your DD, and it's basically the only time you both can go, you "suck it up" and pay the price.

We did the same!! Got the card and just booked three of us for December using all our points and only paying $15 out of pocket for fees! I am so excited to have the flights booked! Makes the whole trip real. Now if our waitlist will come through for BWV we will be golden!
