Southwest anniversary sale

The prices on SW out of BWI to MCO are ridiculous for us too right now. Almost $2500 for Thanksgiving week for the 5 of us (I know, I know, a holiday, and thats ONLY $500 per person) and it is even worse out of PHL. I even looked at leaving midweek and even a week before and after and not a huge improvement in price. Its just crazy.

In 25+ trips over the last 10 years, looks like we are driving for the very first time. I have NEVER EVER spent more than $220RT on flights. EVER. We have officially been priced out of flying now unless a miracle happens. We just can't afford it.

I agree about BWI. If you look at the "sale" listings, there are very few flights on sale from Maryland to Florida. I might gets 3 dings a year and never for BWI.

For what it's worth, I know where I am the flights have gone down. However, they were down a few days ago, went up yesterday, and as of 5:30 am today were still higher. I woke up at 7am and checked just in case and they'd gone down but only to what they were a couple days ago. Still, we were able to switch our flight, so we're now traveling at $272 roundtrip. Our goal was under $300 and I'd been told by some people they could do it about $250 so I'm happy with that. Plus we got nonstop flights at good times for us.

Well, I guess my information about the anniversary sale was wrong. I apologize for putting it out there. More importantly, I'm sorry there aren't amazing deals happening right now.

Don't ever be sorry for sharing info you heard. I rather be aware of a possibility than find out about something after it is over with. Keeps us on our toes.

Don't forget to check the airport in Sanford Florida. It's 45 minutes away from the parks, but a lot of smaller airports use that and fly in and out of there. It's actually an international airport. Allegiant is the major airlines there and while it's no-frills we have gotten some really good deals flying out of a smaller local airport.

You can also check the Tampa airport as well. It takes 1hr 20 to reach WDW from TPA. But it takes 30-35 minutes to get from MCO to WDW so in reality it only takes an extra 40 minutes to drive from TPA to WDW.

TPA is not a busy crazy airport like MCO. The airfare to TPA is usually less than MCO. When I bought our recent airfare the price difference was $87 less per person to fly into/out of TPA.

My December trip went down by $80 since yesterday! :cool1: So that took care of most of the EB fees in comparison to yesterday's prices. Aug dates still higher than what I booked at a few months ago. Still hoping the anniversary sale will bring that down even more - fingers crossed!

I have 2 upcoming trips this year....both went UP today:rotfl2: oh well....

It's funny you say that because I thought my Ding was broken. :)

The last time I used it, I got Dings all the time. That was actually how I was alerted to the anniversary sale that I used to buy my tickets in 2011. Since then, I deleted the software. I had to re-install when I started planning this trip but I have only had 1 Ding in about 4 months. Glad to know it's not me.

Well I went ahead and booked our return flights today(snagged 99 one way down on last weeks sale)I was trying to wait out and hope there would be a anniversary sale this week because flights back were showing at 135 then the other day they went down to 123 and is what it was still showing today during this new "sale" so I figured I better not be greedy and just go ahead and book before they increased. But I will keep an eye out in case I can get a better time/price.
I am happy with the 222 RT PP seeing as I was looking at 278 RT PP x3 and the difference pays for mine and DD's MVMCP tickets(grandson is age 2)!

Wow just checked again and our return flight is now showing at 151 PP I just purchased them at 123 PP 15 minutes ago! So glad I didn't wait any longer!

I booked my 3 trips the end of April (Seattle to Indianapolis to visit friends/family), Indy to MCO, and then MCO to Seattle. When I got a SW email about a sale, I called them and now have a credit of $127 for future flights. That was on the 7th of June. That is why I love SW (besides the no baggage fee). I have been able to change flights with no charge in the past and now got a rebate on already booked flights. What other airlines will do all this!
