Southwest anniversary sale

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not there will still be an anniversary sale next week?

i did well for december , saturday travel both ways , decided to check on how many points this would take with the sale , and ended up with two round trip tickets on direct flights (first flight out of PIT, and last flight out of MCO ) and early bird check in total cost $60.00 for both of us . kick in the free dining i AM ONE happy camper :cool1::cool1:

GOALLLLLLLL! :thumbsup2

Yep, our dates don't qualify (12/20-12/27). We'd still be looking at $822 RT (!!!!!!!!). Very glad we bought when we did, but very happy for those finding ridiculously good deals! :)

So does anyone know if this supposed Southwest sale starts on Tuesday June 10th and runs through Thursday June 12th ? I seem to remember reading those dates from another poster on these boards somewhere.

I was the one that posted that information. My husband heard something on the radio about a Southwest sale that would be happening June 10 - 12th. We'll see if it actually happens this week.

Glad I checked again, our departing flight went down another $12. We are down to $222/person total for nonstop flights at our preferred times. :thumbsup2

My fingers are crossed, because so far our flights have not dropped in price.

I've definitely got my fingers crossed for an Anniversary Sale, because our return flights were $182 when the schedule opened and didn't budge at all...until 2 days ago the WGA fare was suddenly gone for almost every flight on our date, and the next cheapest fare is now $511. Hopefully it's like a jewelry store sale, where they inflate the prices immediately prior to the sale and then offer a slight discount on what the regular price was, to make it seem like an even bigger sale. Hopefully.

Otherwise we'll end up on United, which has a military fare at $155 for a non-stop at a time I can live with. My target price is $135, which is $25 more than what we paid in 2012 for a worse flight time that also had a connection.

Hi - can you tell me where you got this information?

I haven't been able to figure out the flights from BWI to MCO this year or at least my dates. We are flying in on Nov 8 and leaving Nov 15. Flights were released on May 19th and were just under $800RT for my family of 3. That was within a few minutes of release.
After recently finding out that I was pregnant, I wanted to talked to my doctor before I booked our flights so I held off that moment. Later int he day I was talking with a co-worker who is planning a trip for 2 weeks before mine. We were looking at flights and my flights had jumped up to almost $1000 at that point. About 2 weeks passed and the flights hit the high point of $1611 for 3 of us. There is absolutely no way I would pay that much to fly to Orlando for 3 of us. There are so many other options, although none are a desirable as a direct from BWI for me. We checked out Philly, DC, Hagerstown. Looked into the Auto-Train, looked into driving. At that point I will be 7 months pregnant. I need to get there as quickly as possible. Miracle of miracles, even though it wasn't listed in the sale last week, suddenly my flight dropped to $882RT. I jumped on it. I am hoping it goes down a little more during the sale but at least I have it booked at this point.
I have not followed the sale in several years but the last time I did, we got great deals. In 2011 it was the SW 40th Anniversary. We got $80 each way for a total of $480RT for 3 of us. I don't think it gets much better than that. I am hoping for something like that but don't expect it.

The prices on SW out of BWI to MCO are ridiculous for us too right now. Almost $2500 for Thanksgiving week for the 5 of us (I know, I know, a holiday, and thats ONLY $500 per person) and it is even worse out of PHL. I even looked at leaving midweek and even a week before and after and not a huge improvement in price. Its just crazy.

In 25+ trips over the last 10 years, looks like we are driving for the very first time. I have NEVER EVER spent more than $220RT on flights. EVER. We have officially been priced out of flying now unless a miracle happens. We just can't afford it.

I did flight more affordable flights out of DC but they were still more than I wanted to pay. Have you looked into the AutoTrain? It's going to be a little bit of a drive for you since you are in PA but it's still not driving as far as Orlando. We looked at driving as well but our options were limited on that. I have an Expedition so it would be cheaper to fly than drive that thing and my DH has a brand new Versa. It gets 40 mpg's but I can't even begin to fathom how we would get our luggage in there as well as all 3 of us for that ride. Plus, I fear I may snap and cause severe bodily harm to my DH if I am in a car with him for that trip.

Yeah, I looked at the auto train and it is almost the same price for us plus we would lose a day due to the time it leaves. I figured airfare, airport parking, plus a rental in Florida would be about $2800-$3000 for us til its all said and done. Right now I have a mini van booked for $500 to drive down and back plus obviously we will have the use of it for the entire time down there. We are staying onsite so no parking fees. We plan to split the drive up so hotel on the way down and back. However, we normally fly in late Friday and stay in a hotel at the airport, so those would offset each other. So really just the extra hotel night on the way home, gas/tolls and food (again I don't really worry about that too much since we would be eating either flying or driving). I figure I can do the drive for $1000-$1200 so at least half the flight. Not happy about it but right now it is looking like our best option. Renting the mini van will help keep our sanity, we wouldn't be able to do it in our vehicles.

Well this weeks sale is not as great as last weeks sale which is the same thing that happened last year.

Just glad I was able to book all the flights I needed last week. :cool1:

Did it even open yet? I don't see anything new listed yet and the last time I didn't think they opened until about 5:08 central time. Well, at least on the opening of Nov/Dec fares, I was waiting and finally at 5:08 the dates and prices opened.

ETA: after looking into special offers I do see a 'the year is half over' sale, running until june 26th. that doesn't sound like the anniversary sale, though, as that is usually a quick 3 day sale. hmmm.

Yes, my flights haven't budged a bit for this new "sale." I am glad I booked on the morning that the booking window for my dates opened; we are traveling over Columbus day weekend so I knew prices would be high, but was hoping to bring it down a bit. Oh well…

It doesn't seem as if we are going to get a big Anniversary/Birthday sale this year :worried: but I'll keep looking, just in case!

Well, I guess my information about the anniversary sale was wrong. I apologize for putting it out there. More importantly, I'm sorry there aren't amazing deals happening right now.

Each year I probably say "This is the most ridiculous airfare I've seen in my life!"...
And this year appears to be following the same pattern.
My desired dates actually have gone UP again. :crazy2:

No big deal; I had to get up and wash my hair before work anyhow! Honestly, I'd rather be "here" for a sale that doesn't happen than sleeping in for a sale and miss a great deal! Besides… it's always fun to have coffee in the morning with my DIS friends! :hippie:
