I've found on Southwest's website that there is not change fees charged if you need to change your flight, other than you pay the difference in fare. Do you know how much advance notice would be needed to change your flight? We have a trip planned, leaving in 6 days (12/5) and returning on 12/10. I have a very sick relative and may need to cancel or fly back early depending on his condition. I'm just trying to figure out if we would be able easily change our fly back to come home early if need be.

Pretty much up to flight time. Just be aware that at that point in time you'll be paying anytime fares, and they are not inexpensive.

I'm sorry about your relative.

It'll always be easy to change it if there are seats available; just might be expensive.

One time I was flying in early March with an early morning flight. I got up around 3:00am and we had snow everywhere. My streets are usually plowed last. So I got online and changed my flight to 11:00am with a stop in BWI instead of non-stop. I was on points, I had to pay some extra but it worked.
