I liked SW on Facebook and they are running a 50% off sale on certain Wanna Get Away fares for certain days. Read the fine print but i found some for 1/2 price going to Las Vegas. Hope this helps someone.

Great deal if the dates work for you! Roundtrip to Orlando would only be $135 for me.

Thanks fo rthe info.

Here are the dates.
Discount is valid only on new reservations and purchase must be made on August 3, 2012 for travel on 9/5, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/31, or 11/6/12.

Bless you OP! I have several flights to make before year's end. I have managed to make at least 2 flights for cheaper than 2 originally.
Thank you again for sharing!

My hubby called from work to tell me about this sale. He says to me "we could fly to Orlando for $82 each way (normally a $250/ each way ticket). Jeez it's too bad we can't go". Seriously. Why on earth would he call to tell me about a super deal to somewhere I really want to go and then say we can't go? Not cool. Now I'm even more bummed that we are not going this year.

thank you disboards for the heads up! Now i need a place to stay!!!

I love this sale--we adjusted some dates so now we are flying Chicago to LA for $159 per person......I have credit for next year for $600 from my previous tickets for my brother in law's wedding next year...today is a good day!

That is such a great deal! Just double check, but I believe the credit you received expires one year from the date you originally booked the flight.

Sounds like this deal caused more trouble than it was worth. Most people are complaining of being charged 20+ times (one person was charged 90 times) for the same flight. They are having to go through and give the CS people each confirmation number to get them canceled and with the amount of people this happened to they are waiting hours on hold.

I'm actually really happy I didn't hear about this deal until today. 20+ charges on any of my cards would have been a major problem for me.

huh? no problems here. just a GREAT deal.

I had no issue playing with dummy dates. Great for people who can book last minute. :thumbsup2

I was one of those people who got charged multiple times by Southwest. I was unaware of the problem when I got an email on Sunday that my reservation had been canceled!!!?? It was only after I called SWA customer service that I learned about it.

Yesterday, I got another email from SWA. They're sending everyone who was affected a $150 voucher via email as an apology for the inconvenience and problems they caused. They are also paying any overdraft/ over limit fees that their error may have triggered.

Just one more reason why I love Southwest!

A copy of the email:

* Dear Marion,

As you are all too aware, the overwhelming response from Customers who took advantage of our August 3 limited time offer created website performance issues at various times during the weekend, and in some cases, created multiple charges to some of our Customers' accounts. We sincerely apologize that you were one of the Customers who incurred multiple holds on your credit or debit account.

We hope you are willing to give us another try. We are confident that if you allow us the opportunity, you will have a better experience the next time you book, and as a gesture of goodwill, we're sending a $150 Southwest LUV Voucher (in a separate e-mail) that we invite you to apply toward the purchase of a future Southwest reservation. The e-mail with the LUV Voucher code will arrive within the next few days.

Our Employees worked overtime to resolve the issue throughout the weekend and have confirmed that the duplications are no longer occurring. By initiating an "all hands on deck" approach, we have proactively initiated refunds back to your financial institution for any erroneous bookings. These refunds are currently being processed, but timing will vary depending on the individual bank.

If you used a debit card and have received overdraft fees as a result of the additional charges, we will process a reimbursement for all overdraft fees that were caused by duplicate charges from Southwest for your reservation purchase. Please fax documentation of those fees via a letter from your bank or a copy of your account showing the fees to 877-506-0154.

Southwest Airlines is committed to providing Customers with exceptional service both online and onboard. Our goal was to resolve this issue as quickly as possible to minimize any inconvenience to you, our valued Customer. We hope you will give us another opportunity to provide you with a better overall experience--you can be sure that we are looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Sincerely,

Teresa Laraba

Hilarious! My DH does this to me all the time!! It ticks me off and makes me laugh at the same time. Jerk! :)

I was "only" charged 3 times before I figured out something was fishy. Got three confirmation numbers for 3 identical trips. I just canceled two of them on my own within 15 minutes of booking what I thought was once. No problem. THEN I got the emails and eventually the $150 LUV voucher. :thumbsup2
