Southwest Adding More Seats to Planes

Never mind...........apparently this is how:

Room was created by switching to lighter, thinner padding; limiting the range of recline to two inches from three, and replacing seat-back pouches with netting. Pitch, or the distance from the back of a seat to the back of the one behind it, will slip to 32 inches from 33.

I'm sure they had to do something. SW is becoming one of the most expensive airlines to fly. Especially if your groing from the east to west coast.

If it helps to lower the prices then I'm all for it.

This would be nice if it helps lower the costs. I'm a SWA fan as it is, but I agree their flights have gotten to be more costly. I was pricing flights today to go to DL in August. Hoping the prices I see will be more or less the same when their booking window opens up this Sunday for dates through Sept. 28th. US Airways was actually cheaper than SWA; until I added in the baggage fees. Then US airways would be more expensive. If I didn't have to check bags, then I would seriously consider US Airways.

The article didn't say anything about lower prices, just increased revenue. They aren't going through this to save money for the passengers, it's going to the bottom line.

Every since they started chanting " Bags Fly Free," their fares have gone thru the roof!
We used to fly OW from ALB to MCO for $49 - $79.
Now their sale prices are $120 and higher.
I guess we just have to pay for the bags we don't check!
Amazing how their marketing people think.
We've been flying JetBlue alot lately. SWF or HPN to MCO is usually $87 - $104 INCLUDING 1st BAG FREE :cool1:
We used to LUV Southwest.

Goes great with Southwest's policy of refunding the second seats purchased by several larger passengers even if there is only one empty seat at departure time.
