Southwest 72 Hour Sale

Im trying to decide if we should fly this year! We've always flown, and done south west from Greenville SC nonstop to mco. Now SW doesn't fly to orlando from GSP. So we had decided to drive. Its an 8 hour trip. Now I see this sale. $288 for our family RT flights out of charlotte. So do we drive 2 hours north to fly 1.5 hours south? Confused!!! Hubby says by the time we arrive at airport 90 min early, have flight, then wait on magical express, we could have just driven the 8 hours. Any opinions?

We live less than an hour north of Charlotte, and just took that sweet SW offer. More than the time savings, I find that I am more refreshed when we fly instead of drive, In this instance the airfare is not going to be a whole lot more than the cost of gas had we driven. Factor in the relaxation of flying, arriving at WDW refreshed, and not having to dread the drive home and it was a no-brainer for me. Also, we will save some time. Not as much as if we were coming from a great distance, but still saving time nonetheless

I just checked 3 flights we have booked from PHL to MCO in October and all of them are more expensive than the original purchase. No savings for us!

When I originally booked our airfare (on points) the cost of each leg from BWI to MCO was $108. When this sale started I was able to rebook our BWI flight at $99. Our return flight was $129. As of today, I was able to book our return flight at $98 and then rebook our outgoing flight at $98 as well. Not sure why the prices dropped again but I now have 10,060 points back in my account!

Dates are 9/10 - 9/15 for 7 people!

I think the low fares out of PHL are gone. :(...our flight are too higher now then before the sale:confused3..

I just told DH last night, I think after this trip we might have to consider driving again.

They give you the option of just rebooking one leg of your trip. I just did it and now have an $185 credit! :thumbsup2

I guess I'm still waiting....If this was the birthday sale they would identify it as such, right?

One leg of my BUF-LAS trip in Sept went down a bit...But if I rebook the flight home is way higher so I don't think that will work out.

I need a flight to MCO on 8/19 which is a week before the sale dates begin.

I might need to suck it up and pay a bunch more for my flight.

well...this SWA sale didn't work for our Orlando Christmas trip dates...(BIG surprise there, eh?)..BUT, I did just book RT flights for my daughter to fly home from Kansas on her fall break...saved over $200. :thumbsup2
Now, sure hope she WANTS to leave the mild temps in Kansas to come home to our Texas "Fall" weather for a week-long visit in October! ;)

Managed to book Mum and I's flights down in January for 12.50 using miles and voucher because of sale! Now have to wait for next sale to book our return flight.

Hope that I manage to get a great deal!

So glad for this sale. I am going to DL with some friends in October and we were going to drive...something like 14 hours one way. Now we are flying for $791 for 4 people RT.

Yes it is more expensive than driving but we won't have to leave Albuquerque before the sun comes up, less time confined to a small space and we will not he exhausted when we get there.

Now I just gotta upgrade my 3 day hopper to a 5 day.

I was able to rebook our December tickets from MDW-HOU and save $64 each person ($192 total for three of us). We will use those funds to go to DLR in April. I also found a great deal on a ticket for myself MDW-TPA in October, used my coke rewards also and that round trip was $189. The lower fares are allowing me to take this solo trip to visit family for a few days, something I haven't done in a few years.

Dumb question... I saved $168 on my airfare already booked. Does Southwest allow you to use these funds for anything else besides airfare?

I got $99 tickets on our flight from MCO to Chicago on Dec 5th. This is the lowest price yet.

I snagged the $99 fare for 4 of us MDW to MCO on 12/17 :cool1: ($445 total, which includes EBCI for everybody). Fares up until now have been $166 each way, so I'm glad I was able to grab such a good deal for at least one of our flights now :goodvibes.
