Southern California Weather...

I'm leaving on Saturday from Chicago. The ten day outlook in Southern California shows that the temperatures will be in the hi 60's/low 70's. What?! That's cold!!

I've always heard or rather saw on TV that California is always nice (read 80+ degrees). It will be at least 20-25 degrees warmer in Chicago during the same period. Oh well, I'll just have to pack some jeans and jackets for the kids--at least we're going to DISNEYLAND!!

I have a simple answer for you--it's June and that's typical June weather. Personally, I'm enjoying the cooler weather. It'll be triple digits in my area soon enough.

Lol! We were just like you on our first trip, only we were really clueless and didn't even bother to check the local temps! The weather was beautiful, but it felt much more like fall weather to us.

The cool weather is a nice break from the 90-100 degree humid weather we get here by July so we'll just be a lot smarter this time and pack long pants and jackets.

It really is just a matter of what you're adjusted to.

It also depends on where you're going to be at. If you're going to the beach, it'll be cooler than if you're inland (i.e. at Disneyland). My personal prediction: You'll see mid 70's most of your trip and be very comfortable. Evenings will probably feel a bit chilly as we cool down more here at night as well as after being in the sun all day, you feel colder at night.

LOL check out my post from the other day on what to pack. I said the same thing. I think we listened to too many Beach Boy songs with surfing to realize that people in California DO wear a sweater and jacket LOL

I think some of us So Cal's get used to the weather being fairly moderate year round. It's not unusual at 60 degrees to see people in shorts, sandals and a tank top (me) standing next to someone else wearing gloves and a hooded jacket (DW).

About the only time I ever wear a jacket to Disneyland is between Halloween & the end of January.
February thru April I just shiver on the Tram on the way back to the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure at midnight.

Anything between 54 and 110 and I'm comfy. DW thinks I'm crazy - she's not "warm" unless it's over 80 degrees and that's about where I start breakin' a sweat!

Kinda off topic but have you ever been to Florida in December?

You've got the Canadian's swiming in the pool
the Northeasterner's wearing hooded shirts and jeans
and the Floridian's bundled up like they are in the artic.

The tempeture is 55º

I'm curious about mid-December temps...I was sort of basing my decision for a hotel on how cool the pool is (cool as in neat, not cool as in temps!) But I never even thought that maybe it will be, well, too cool for a cool pool!

The pools are heated so once you're in your fine. Also during the day you should be fine, however I wouldn't plan on doing any pools in the evening. I've seen the kids in the pool at 10 pm and the parents in wintercoats, hates and gloves sitting on the side watching them. Historically the weeks nearest to Christmas and NY into the beginning of January are the most cooler. That said, there is no place like Disney for the holiday's.
