I am thinking of booking a flight on Southeast from Allentown, PA to Orlando/Sanford. I would like to hear from anyone who have flown on Southeast.
Thanks
I'd be interested in hearing stories too! This last trip we drove out to JFK/NYC just to fly Jet Blue. I have a fear of flying, that has gotten a lot better but I've only flown Jet Blue in recent years and I've grown attached to them since they've gotten me to Florida in one piece.
We flew Southeast this past Jan. from Allentown to Sanford. We flew out Sun. night and back Mon. afternoon. We were happy with them and would use them again (hopefully next Jan.!). Both airports were smaller/quieter than Phil. and Orlando which we liked. The planes were fairly small - but if you get there early enough and are able, request exit-row seating for more leg room. They don't assign seats, so it's a first-come, first-serve basis. On the way back, we both still got exit-row seats, only DH was immediately in front of me instead of next to me. Our flight was delayed about 1 hr. 30 min. on the way out, and on time on the way back. They flight goes by fairly quickly and is non-stop (at least it was).
Only bad thing was that DH had just gotten a virus and needed to be sick - only he realized this *after* they had started beverage service... When he asked to be let by to reach the bathrooms they asked him to wait, he said it was an emergency and they said that the "fasten seatbelt sign was on" etc He managed to wait until they'd passed and pretty much hogged 1 of the 2 bathrooms for the remainder of the flight. Also, if you do get sick, take the little air-sick bags with you from the plane. We asked for one once inside Allentown and they didn't have any, although they did give us a huge garbage bag for the way home - lol!
HTH and hopefully you guys will be healthy on your flight
Just used Southeast last week from ABE. The planes were DC9's,which is a little small compared to what we are used to. You did notice alittle less leg room, and the big difference I thought was the noise. Very nice crew, liked the convience of the small airports, but with the extra time and expense to get to Disney we would only use again if there was a larger group like we had this time.
Will only fly out of ABE from now on!! Can't beat the prices $133 round trip, parking for valet was $7 a day and the staff was great! Sanford is a nice small airport with the car rental pick up being right outside the doors. We got a one day rental, drove to WDW and returned it later that day at the Dolphin. I couldn't find a flight out of either PHL or EWR for less then $279 for our time frame. Sure Sanford is a little farther away then MCO but if you rent a car it's cheaper then a town car service, you can do a grocery stop for as long as you want to and even stop for lunch prior to going to your resort. The savings were huge for us and actually allowed me to extend our trip for 3 extra days since I orginally budgeted for PHL into MCO and a town car.
I also perferred the smaller airports to the larger ones....I felt safer for some reason, that's just MHO.
