Personally, I believe this would be just punishment for anyone that rapes a child.

I like the idea in theory, but that would just create more automatic appeals and thousands of dollars of wasted tax payer money.

Hardly anybody gets executed anymore. I think it would be a much more effective deterrent (and punishment) if the process were a little more streamlined.

Until then, I'd rather throw them in jail and let them rot.

I will preface my remarks by sayingthat I have no problem with capitol punishment as long as it is properly administered. By properly administered, I mean sentenced and exceuted within a reasonable period of time, not 25 years later after 77 appeals.

I have no problem with capital punishment for those found guilty of sex crimes against children.

Although I do hear that they don't fare too well in prison either.

The thing with people on death row, is there is no chance they will ever get out, no time off for good behavior, no parole board. Death row mean prison until you die, either by way of execution or natural causes. The future victims are safe.

In theory it sounds great, but like another poster said, it's much more expensive to execute them then to just toss them in prison and throw away the key (ie life with no parole). That's a law I could get behind!

Also, I didn't read the article, but I'd like the law to be clear that we are talking about adults molesting children, not an 18 year old kid sleeping with his 16 year old girlfriend and the parents get mad and press charges. Huge, huge differance between the two, but some states don't make the distinction, you're labled a "child preditor" either way.
