No, but we should. You'd probably feel less than a lethal injection if you do it right.

As much as child molesters disgust me, I would be opposed to executing them. I am opposed to the death penalty in all cases. Life in prison without parole will do just fine.

Putting myself in the shoes of a victim: assuming I'd been assaulted young, what would bring me more closure - having the state kill the guy, or knowing that he's suffering in prison while I live a merrier life?

Definitely the latter. Think about a hypothetical devout Christian woman who was assualted as a child, testified against the offender, conviction, death penalty exacted. I think that woman would always feel a vague sense of guilt about her close association with what is functionally a murder. It would be justified. But it would still be death at another's hands.

why is it so hard to believe that the family may not have wished for his execution?
why is it whenever someone says they are against the death penalty, the statements about "oh if it happened to you, you'd feel differently" or "you have no idea how it feels" are made everytime?

oh, and just because someone is against the death penalty, it doesn't mean they find molestation, torture, murder, or whatever any less disgusting and disturbing than the rest of you.

I can promise that if this ever happened to my daughter I would not feel any differently, regardless of who the molestor was - friends or family members included. I'd still be for the death penalty.

And I totally believe that everyone finds molestation, torture, murder, etc....disgusting and disturbing whether they believe in the death penalty or not. If they didn't find these things disgusting and disturbing, I'd wonder what was wrong with them!
