South Cal. Hopper upgrade to AP by out of stater?

Can a southern cal. hopper pass that has zip 90000-93599 restrictions be upgraded to an AP by someone not living in those zip codes with credit given for price paid?

Here's the deal. I was given a Costco $750 gift card by my work. I wish to use this to help pay for our Disneyland trip. Only way I can think of is to order the above mentioned park hoppers from Costco.com as thats the only pass they sell. Then at the Disneyland guest services upgrade them to AP's.

I have heard some non-residents use the Southern Cal. passes without being checked and others saying the were checked at the gates. But what about just wanting to get full credit for them towards AP's? I don't want to be told sorry, those can only be used or upgraded by residents.

That was my question too. You can also buy parkhopper tickets from Costco and upgrade those. For example, I just went to Costco.com and they have a 4-day hopper for $199.99 that comes with a $50 gift card.

Costco.com only sells the 4 day hopper as you've mentioned and not the AP's often found in some southern california Costco's. Costco.com will ship these passes to anyone.

I don't wish to use these for gate admission. Only to get the $150 credit towards an AP.

I understand your intentions. The only thing is, I have a PAP, but I have three friends that have SoCal AP's and they ordered them from my computer one day before we left the house for the parks. The online form to order the SoCal AP requires you to enter a valid SoCal billing address. I'm not sure what Costco would have you do, but that's how Disneyland.com works.

I was also looking at those Costco passes, and was also confused cause it seems even though they are only supposed to be purchased by SoCal residents, a lot of out-of-staters are able to buy and use and some CM's even saying its okay. However, when you go and upgrade to AP's they usually ask a lot of questions about the tickets you are upgrading to make sure they are your tickets, so I would be concerned like you are.

I personally wouldn't risk it, but since it sounds like you have no use for the costco card you can always try it. Also, I don't know what costco's return policy is, but you can try and bring the unopened hoppers/disney card pack (dont know if they are closed or not) , Im guessing if you keep it unopened you might be able to return easily. Another option is to try and sell the card, either craiglist or ebay, you should get pretty close to the value of the card. I know a costco card is as good as cash for me and a lot of people.

I wish there was a clear policy on the Costco SoCal Park Hoppers! My in-laws unwittingly bought my hubby and I the SoCal Park Hoppers as a gift even though we don't live in SoCal. Hubby and I were worried we wouldn't be able to use them, but when we called Disney, we were told that SoCal residents could buy them as gifts and give them away. Ok, then why does it say that you can be asked for ID verification?

Anyways, we used them with no problem, but it does make you a little nervous. We did inquire about upgrading the park hoppers, although we never did. We were told it was no problem. But who knows really? You could get a different CM who could tell you something different.

No. It credits only $151 because of the $50 gift card. But you can use the $50 gift card to pay part of the difference.

Just what I was going to suggest. I would not want to take my time debating the issue with multiple CM's and their interpretation of any policy based on hearsay.

I asked about the 4 day park hopper tix when I was at Costco yesterday. They said they are 100% refundable as long as you return the package fully entact. So you could always try it and if you can't do it then return the tickets and buy yourself something nice at Costco, or offset your grocery bill by shopping at Costco and use the extra grocery funds in your budget to buy Disneyland Tix. Does that make sense?
Also, you can always call Disneyland and ask them. Doesn't hurt...just be totally honest about what you want to do and see what they say.

When you call the phone number it is a Disney CM that answers saying "Costco Travel". Costco Travels website redirects you to Disney's as well.

I knew it was redirected through Disney but didn't know for sure if you could use a GC or not.
