South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Good morning, yesterday was a not so great day but I think what I need to do is one of the 100 cheat free day challenges on the board. I keep going up, down, up, down!!!!!

Down another half pound. But hey, a half pound a day will eventually add up, right? Sorry you are sick Sheree. Hope you feel better. I am horrible sick and ended up "cheating" with some crackers because I felt so sick to my stomach. Oh, well. I guess I am just doing a Phase 1 1/2, because I am not starting over again. As long as the weight is coming off, that is fine by me. Can't exercise because I am so sick. Just wish I could kick this bug.
Congrats to everyone for there losses, keep up the good work. Have a
Beachy day!~ :goodvibes

Wow, you all are doing so wonderful!  Time for some dancin' around here! :dancer: :dancer:

Thank you all, I am feeling better. I think my fever broke sometime Wed. It was horrible being in bed on my b-day :sad2: I am feeling better and forced myself into some exercise. I just couldn't see my self not doing anything for days. It just makes me crazy!

I hope you all have a wonderful friday evening!!!

As you know, my DH and I have been on the SB for 6 weeks now. This morning I really looked at my DH (you know how you look at someone and not really look at them) and I could tell that he had lost a lot of weight. As of today he has lost 20 lbs. :cheer2:

He said that people at work are starting to notice. Why is 20 lbs. that magical number when people start to notice that you've lost weight? Hopefully the praise will keep him on track. :love2: On Monday, his doctor said that his blood pressure was down, which is great news! I'm still looking at around 13-14 lbs. lost.

I want to lose 9 more lbs. before our cruise. Is it realistic to lose one lb. a week? I'm going to step up the exercise. I haven't been doing well with it. It's hard with a 3 year old at home. I know, no excuses. ;)

Have a great weekend!

Lori

Excellent work you two, Piratesmate. I may have a I'm feeling sorry for myself day and then I think as soon as I'm back to work where I need the structure (long story) I'm gonna do strictly SB.

I know what you mean about structure. I do fix my husband's breakfast everyday. I want him to be on track each day from the get go. He feels that it helps him manage the rest of the day better. He has a stressful job and I'm a SAHM(for the time being). He often thanks me for helping him stay on track. I have to fix the kids breakfast anyway so it isn't a big deal.

The SB diet for me is you do it properly or you will gain weight. I've always had a hard time maintaining. I don't think I ever had a period in my life where I've stayed at the same weight. Either up or down.

Lori

Lori, how wonderful for the two of you!!! That's the way I did with my DH, I helped him out as much as I could. He just strayed. Now he has the mandatory lose 40 more pounds from his doctor, and I'm back to helping him out. I do think it is possible to lose 1lb a week. I did for the longest. Just remember one thing about exercise, it might make you stall or go up for a minute, then down down down. I should know!!!!!!!!! I also found that if I did it right, I would not gain, just lose or maintain. That is why now I do a modified phase 2 and never went to 3. I still eat what I want but I have never went back to pasta, fries, potatoes, chips or anything like that. I might eat something like that once every 6 months or so. I hate the way it makes me feel. So I eat all of my favorite healthy things. I really don't count carbs or calories and exercise every day. That is the way that I found that it works for me and I have now maintained (October) will be a year!!!! It is doable. You and your husband, keep it up! Being a SAHM is hard (I'm one too) but you can do it.

S&K'smom, those little cheats really add up don't they? I think what kept me from straying is I kept wanting to see that next pound down, or what dress size can I fit into now? Then it got so easy that straying was not an option. I liked how I looked to much (is that vain ;) ) Keep at it and I know you can make it

Lori, I think 1 lb. a week definitely doable, but it may depend on how close to your goal you are. I've heard people say that the closer you get to your goal, the harder it is to get the weight off, but in my case, I have been losing 1-2 lbs. a week consistently.

Like you, I'm in the cruise-slimming mode. I have 3 weeks, and I'd really like to lose about 6 more lbs. before then! :boat:

Like Florida Mom, I am in cruise mode also. Got to get the rest of the weight out of here!! I just wish I could hurry up and feel better. I have such a miserable cold and cough. I need to get better so I can excercise.
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Sheree, glad you feel better. Congrats on almost 1 year of maintaining. Hoping to get there myself one day. I think I am going to post some pics around my house of the Disney Magic to help keep me motivated. Maybe that will help. Last night I cheated terrible with a cheesesteak that DH made. It smelled so good, and I haven't been able to eat much or smell much lately. Do I feel guilty, yes. Was it worth it, oh yes. So back to Phase 1 again.

Richter, you can go anywhere. I would even check your local library to see if they have it for you to borrow!! Check it, it is a wonderful plan!

Hi All - Everything is going well here. I started back teaching for the fall and hopefully that will get me back on track. Over the summer I wan't teaching much so there was much more opportunities to snack during the day. My schedule for this quarter doesn't allow me too much time to do mindless snacking during the day. As you can see, I still don't have my 100lb clippie. I had another bounce up of about 4lbs that I'm working off. I'm back within 1lb of my lowest weight. That's the way most of the summer has gone with this see-sawing up and down of about 3 to 4 lbs. But each down is going a little bit lower than the previous one so that's good.

Richter - Welcome to the Disboards and Wish. The book is called "The South Beach Diet" Good luck on your journey.

Melissa. - Sorry to hear about the cold. Hopefully you will feel better soon.

Lori - Congratulation on you and your Husbands loss. Average a pound or 2 a week is considered a normal healthy rate. But as you get closer to goal. It will probably slow down.

Sheree' - Good to hear your feeling better. Congratulation on continuing to maintain. Some people think that maintaining is harder than losing the weight.

S&K Mom - As you can see above, I know what your talking about when you say you need structure. Having a full day help keep me from mindless snacking.

Hi all again. I know this is 2 posts in a row but just had to let everyone know I did make my 100lb clippie today. :Pinkbounc   :Pinkbounc I think this new school schedule will be very conducive to weight loss. At least 2 days a week I don't have time to snack in the evening because i'm working. Another thing that helps is that last winter I calculated I walk the about 1000 steps during each 2 hour class. Getting that extra exercise in even if it's low intensity has got to help as well.

   :cheer2: :cheer2: :bounce: :bounce: WTG!!!! How proud you must be feeling right now! I'm right here celebrating with you!!!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :cheer2: :cheer2:
