South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Michelle :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Keep up the great work. I'm hoping that you get that clippie in a hurry!!!

spb999 :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Almost 40 pounds lost!!! How wonderful for you. Doesn't it feel good to "weigh less"!!!!!

THESCHULTZFIVE, welcome. I hope that it works our for you this time. All it takes is some willpower and determination. Come back, we would love to help you reach your goal.

disneymom3, welcome to you too. SBD is a great plan and no you don't have to stick to the meal plans in the book. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have done a single meal plan at all and I've been on since last January!!!!!! Take hints from the book and look at how the meal plan and foods are structured and then take it from there. Once you get the hang of it, the book becomes obsolete!!! It's a good guide, but you make it work for you.

Welcome THESCHULZFIVE and disneymom3 ......wishing you success on the beach !!

HI all. Good to see so many new people here.

Tara - Yes, I know the first week can be hard. In my case, I was the only one in the household doing SBD so it involved alot of cooking for 1 at times.

Julie - Welcome aboard. Don't worry about if you don't see the rapid weight loss you saw of medifast. It may take you body a while to transition to this new way of eating. Also after that initial burst of weight loss experts recommend no more than 1 to 2 lbs a week or else you risk losing muscle instead of fat.

Sandy - I know that new clippie is just around the corner.

Michelle- Congratulation on your phase 1 revisited success. I've been temped to do phase 1 again but I'm still losing weight at least slowly.

Thanks Jeremy. That is what I am telling myself, but it helps to hear others say it as well. The point is, I am not giving up. I have read several of your posts and you are very inspiring so thanks for sharing your insight with the rest of us. :sunny:

Welcome newbies!

I am also very new to SBD, about 4 weeks I think.

I am currently down about 12.75 lbs. Not my fastest weight loss ever, but it's coming off and that is what is important.

Technically I am in phase 2, but other than adding the much too yummy SBD peanut butter breakfast bars, I haven't changed very much. I need to start looking at the recipes, because I am starting to repeat my food much too often. Sure way to burn out!

Well, I just finished my breakfast of cottage cheese and V-8 to drink. Very filling and since both are on my list of favorites, no feelings of deprivation here.

Congratulations for joining and here's to your success!

Good morning everyone! :sunny:

Just fininshed up on Phase 1 again on Monday and actually lost more this time around. This week I was down 4.6 lbs. Good enough for a new clippie! So far I'm on track to hit my 4th of July goal. :cool1:

A big congrats to all the "losers" :cheer2: and a big welcome to all the newbies! :goodvibes

Julie and Kim, you too are doing terrific!!!! Congrats with your losses. It feels really, really good doesn't it!!!!! Keep up the good work

Congrats to the losers !! :cheer2: :cheer2: Keep it up !!

I've found myself cheating a little more than I should lately ...... I allow the occasional "off beach" treat but I can't let it become a daily thing.....at least I'm aware what I'm doing and hopefully can break out of it quickly.....

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Can't believe that tomorrow is June. Almost half the year gone already.

I'm trying to get everything in line for my trip right now! I leave in 20 days for Disneyland. I'm loading up on my own snacks and everything. I've never been to Disneyland and don't want to be caught there without some food and snacks for myself.

I'm hoping that everyone is still doing great! Have a wonderful day.

Hello all. I just started SB yesterday. I made it through the day without caving into to the cravings of my sweet tooth. So far, so good today. I know what my lunch and dinners will be and I have SB approved snacks. Can I ask how often you weigh yourself?

Pam

Welcome to the beach, Pam !!

I try hard to only weigh myself once a week......sometimes it's said here that the scale is "evil" because it doesn't always show you what you're hoping for, and it's not the only indicator of success.....sometimes you may notice your clothes feeling better and/or a loss of inches with no reflection on the scale to match....so while it's one way to track progress, don't let it discourage you !!

Thank you for the reply Sandy!

I find myself wanting to weigh in every time I pass the scale. I think I need to hide my scale for a week! (Or have DH hide it from me!)

Pam

Pam, welcome! I know what you mean about the scale. When I first started, I weighed in everytime I saw it thinking that it would make a big difference. My best advice is to stay away fromthe evil scale, especially if you are exercising! It will play trick on y ou and depress you something awful. Try for once a week, or be prepared for it to tell you things you don't want to hear!

I just started the South Beach too! I've been looking for a plan that is doable and this seems to be it. I read the book on the weekend and went through the cookbook, so it looks like a workable plan. My goals are both weight loss and health. I want to lower my blood pressure and I have been looking at the DASH diet a lot. Welll -- it looks like Phas 3 of South Beach is the DASH diet, so this way I can ease into it and I think Phase I and dealing with the CRAVINGS makes so much sense.
I have been on WISH for a month and really concentrated on exercise which has been great so now I need to look at diet. Sugar has been a real downfall for me and when I read South Beach I understand how I was setting myself up with triggers (all fruit for breakfast etc.) so it makes sense and today is my first day. I spent the last couple of days purging the fridge/freezer etc so I can start on a clean slate. ;)
Glad to have others on here doing South Beach too. :flower:

Welcome to the beach, Calena !! For me, taking off some weight has really helped to improve my blood pressure so hopefully as time goes on you will see the same results

I reached the 40 lb mark yesterday.....15 more to go !! :flower:

Calena, welcome!! We are so happy to have you here. Being on SBD helped me to get off my heart pills which also regulated my blood pressure. I feel so much better and I don't crave sugar anymore. Come back and let us know how you are doing and any other concerns or frustrations you may have!

Hi Pam and Calena It's good to see a couple of more people here. I am another one who can state that my blood pressure has gone down since switching to the SBD. I wasn't on medication yet but my blood pressure was borderline high. Now, my blood pressure is normal and I avoided needing to go on medication. About the sweet cravings, try to have something on hand that is phase 1 friendly to have eat when you get those craving. My main items on phase 1 were sugar free jello and sugar free fudge pops. That got me past my sweet and chocolate craving during phase 1. Good luck and keep us up to date on how everything is going.

Thanks for the welcome! All your good results are encouraging as I begin and it is nice to know Pam is out there starting too.
Made it through the first day, :cool1: and explained the plan to hubby, so if he wants to supplement what I am cooking with other stuff (bread etc) he can, but he seems interested too! I liked the ricotta last night! As I was preparing the school lunches for the kids, I almost grabbed a cracker to eat without even thinking, but stopped. This will be a change, but it is just getting used to it, I hope.

calena, once you get used to it, it's a breeze!!! I was like that at first, oh a chip, wait can't touch that!! It got easier, now I see those things and I don't even want them anymore!!!!

Day 2 gone...no cheating and enjoying the food. Lots of good veggies! I made baked potatoes for the rest of the family last night and used up all the potatoes in the house so that was good. Was not tempted to eat any! I am feeling a little light headed/headachy - so I don't know if it is just body withdrawal from sugar. Still sticking with the program. :)
