South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Hi All

Good news 2 of those lbs are already gone so at least most of it was water weight (had way too much sodium). Thanks for all the encouragement and congratulations.

Tink - Yes he allows tea and diet soda even in phase 1. I drink decaffeinated Ice Tea all the time. I try to limit myself to 1 can of diet pop a day and normally it is also caffeine free.

Michelle - WTG on making it through easter. When you are first starting holidays can be tough. Fortunately there are 4 people in my family who are doing SBD so there is a lot of good things whenever we get together.

Sandy - WTG on getting the BP in check. If you haven't already, you may be able to reduce or eliminate the medication.

Sheree' - I probably need to see a doctor sometime soon also. It been probably 3 or 4 years since I've been. I do try to go out when they have health fairs and get some cheap tests done.

I have not been following the thread for the past few weeks so I apologize if someone has already posted this information, but the new Kraft South Beach foods are out! I really like the pepperoni pizza and the cereal with cinnamon is delicious. Kraft has frozen meals, refrigerated wraps, cereal bars, breakfast cereal, and meal replacement bars. Everything that I have seen is designed for Phase 2 & 3. I was surprised to find that some of the frozen meals even have pasta and rice in them.

For someone like me who has very little cooking skills and often eats on the run, I am glad that I now have quick and easy South Beach options.

Thanks for the info on the Kraft SB foods. I'm going to pick some up this weekend if I can find them.

I sure hope when I weigh in on Monday that I have lost a few pounds. Phase 1 is getting easier, but I miss having some whole grains. But it will be worth it to get out of this rut. I am hoping I can have this last 10 lbs off by my anniversary, but I may be hoping for too much. I would settle with 5 off by then.
Keep up the hard work everyone. It sounds like everyone is doing great!

Txbelle, thanks for the info. I saw all the foods, but I SO love to cook!!!! Although those will really come in handy in a pinch.

Melissa, I hope the weigh in goes well. Phase one does indeed get easier the longer you do it. When is your anniversary??? I hope you can make it by your date!!!

I'm hoping for good news, too! Thanks for the support. I am adding in a new excercise regimen this week. Two workouts a day for the next two months. Time to look good in a swimsuit. My anniversary is the 13th of April, so I hope I have at least some of that last ten off by then. I am pounding the water tonight! Thanks for all the good thoughts. I need them.
Best to everyone on the beach!!!! :cheer2:

Hello everyone! I started South Beach this morning and hoping that it is something that will keep me very motivated -- mainly from the support I believe is here.

Good luck to you QuiltTeddy !!! We'll be here to help you !

Quiltteddy, welcome!!!! I hope you enjoy SBD as much as many of us here on the boards do. We will be here to :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: you on!!!

Hi everyone!

Welcome QuiltTeddy!!!

Today I started Phase 2. I lost 3.5lbs last week, I will be very happy if I lose even a pound a week. Today I had the Kraft SBD Southwestern wrap. It was pretty good. 2 whole wheat tortillas, chicken, salsa and cheese. It even comes with a jello. I'm interested to try some of the other products.

I hope everyone is having a good Monday!! :flower:

Hi All

QuiltTeddy - Welcome. Good Luck as you begin SBD.

Michelle - Congratulation on making it to Phase 2. 3 1/2 lbs is great. I haven't tried any of the SBD meals yet. They are pretty expensive here. Good to know they are tasty.

I went away again this weekend. Had a very good time. Both my brother and brother-in-law are doing SBD so eating this weekend was easy. I wanted to go to Kings Island on Saturday but the weather was awful. It rained all day and was 40 degrees outside. Sunday was much better. I decided to go to an early service at church and head to Kings Island right after church. I got to the park by noon. I needed to head for home so I only spent about 4 hours at the park. I was able to ride all of the rides I wanted to WITHOUT help from the ride operators. Last October, I needed help getting one last click on the restraints before I could ride. The ride that shocked me the most was Tomb Raider the ride. The ride has Over the Shoulder Restraints with a seat belt that belts between your legs. Last October I rode it for the first time (I didn't fit at all before then). When I rode it then, the ride operator needed to push in a little just to get the seat belt to click. This year, I was able to buckle the belt myself and when the ride operator was checking my restraint, it went in 2 more clicks and it still wasn't as tight as it was in October. Went home and yesterday morning I weighed myself before work and couldn't believe what I saw. I checked it again this morning and I had lost another 2 lbs since Wednesday and I'm able to claim a new clippie.

Again, thanks for the welcomes.

Day 2 is proving to be more difficult. I'm a diabetic and my bs is much too low and I've been wanting to eat all morning (even though I had a great breakfast of v-8, eggs and canadian bacon -- excatly what I had yesterday and didn't have a problem). Just went to deli and picked up a chef salad with balsamic vinegarette and I'm trying to hold off eating it until a little later, but don't think I'm gonna make it.....bs is telling me to eat NOW. Very frustrated!

I haven't had time to read this entire thread - it's LONG! I would like to start SB Phase 1 tomorrow. I'm going to the grocery store tonight - any suggestions on what to buy? I've only read the first few chapters of the SB book. I looked at the recipe section too. Any favorite recipes for phase 1? Any advice about starting? Thanks!

QuiltTeddy: Don't forget to eat a snack in the morning between breakfast and lunch. Suggestions include a low fat cheese stick, nuts, or raw veggies with ranch dressing. The best part of SB is that you should never be hungry. When you are hungry, eat. You can do this. :flower:

Congratulations Jeremy on your new clippie and for the results on the rides at Kings Island ! Keep it up !

Welcome momoftwogirls - I know there's a phase 1 shopping list somewhere, it I find it I will post. Just some basics you might try are V8,eggs and canadian bacon for breakfast , peanuts for a snack (around 20 per serving),almonds and pistachios are good too,low fat string cheese for snack, salad for lunch (no carrots or beets in phase 1),lean meats and veggies for dinner.......salad dressings should have 2 or 3g of sugar or less per serving

Thanks spb999! I'm hoping to be able to stick with it for the initial two weeks. I'm very much a carb person now (pasta, rice, cereal, pizza, chocolate) so this will be quite an adjustment. Meat is not a very big part of my current diet, other than chicken. I'm pretty lost in the meat section of the store. Any suggestions with making meals easy to prepare and not too time consuming? I feel a bit overwhelmed thinking about new meal plans.

I understand....my meal plan used to be boil water on the stove and pour lots of pasta in and cook until ready to eat.....I've used my oven more in the last two months than I have in the last 2 years ! :)

I keep it pretty simple....I usually bake chicken breast or boneless pork chops in 30 to 40 minutes and steam veggies in the microwave. Use some spices to shake up the taste buds......I sometimes coat the chicken breast w/ mild chili powder to give it a kick ......if you are a seafood person, all kinds of fish are allowed on phase 1...so there are some options......when I bake fish, sometimes I pour salsa over it to give it some zip........
