Welcome, Barb! You've already gotten great advice, and I don't have much to add, except that first off, you haven't blown anything at all -- you are definitely supposed to eat a snack between breakfast and lunch, and nuts are certainly allowed. The beauty of this way of eating is that you should never feel hungry -- if you're peckish, you should eat something (on program, of course!).
Also, while Phase 1 can be tough for some, it's also the time of the greatest results in the shortest time, which is immensely exciting and motivating.
Be sure to get your starting measurements as well as weight -- sometimes the scale doesn't register a loss, but the tape measure does.
I think you're wise to start after Thanksgiving -- holidays should be enjoyed, which is hard to do when you're figuring out a new eating plan.
