South Beach Dieters......... Unite

HI Everyone !!
Haven't posted in a while....congratulations to everyone working hard on the "Beach" and the reported losses!!

Well today marks three weeks for me and I am down 9 pounds! I am thrilled!! Especially since last week was vacation for me and I survived 4 birthday parties, one being my own! As far as staying OP on vacation and at the parties , I think I did pretty good. I did have a "few bites" here and there but ate no where near as much as I would normally have and the loss proves I am doing okay. When we were in Williamsburg, VA , we went and got take out dessert at the Trellis Restaurant. If anyone is familiar with this they will know it is the home of the "Death by Chocolate Cake". Instead of eating there, we opted for take out dessert and Three of us split one piece. That was pretty good I thought considering if we ate in .......! I think overall I might have only eaten 4 or five bites! It was way too rich but also delicious!

Well today....back on strict SB with no slips! Need to get back in the excercise groove also. Gotta get that in today!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

Have a Healthy Day!

panfan- 9 pounds that is terrific. What a great job you've done so far. Keep up the good work:jumping1: :jumping1:

Hi guys how is everyone doing, I feel like I hit a platueu, instead of losing my gut I seemed to lose my butt LOL!!! Any tips?

Hi everyone -

I'd like to join your SB group !! I have been reading through this thread and you all are inspiring !!! Way to go !!

I started South Beach on 7/12 ... dh is doing it with me.
As of this morning I am down 12.5 lbs and dh is down 10. I am doing a 3rd week of phase 1 except for a small bit of fruit that I have added to my breakfasts this week. We are both so pleased with the results and are having fun trying new recipes.

I had a pedicure yesterday as a reward for my 1st 10 pounds lost !! A nice treat ! My second goal is to be down 20 lbs by my birthday (Sept 16). I would like to loose a total of 45 lbs.

Great job on your losses everyone !!

:D Cindy

Cris- hang in there. I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you should begin an ab routine. For me, the abs was the first to go and now I seem to be losing my butt, but exercising with the firm is really helping me out.

Cindy, welcome. We have plenty of room for more. It is fine for you to stay on phase 1 longer. I know I did. And on a side note, my Birthday is Sept. 14, and I was trying to be at goal by then, but we'll see. I weigh in next week and hopefully I'll be close.

Everyone, have a great day, and I hope things are going terrific for you all

I had a few extra minutes today so I started rereading from the beginning of this post. WOW! How far so many of you have come. Sheree, so close to your goal. You go girl! And Lisa, such an inspiration.
Well, I am on day 4 of my phase 1 redo. So far so good. Haven't weighed, but I feel like I am losing. Only 10 days to phase 2 again. I will not fall off the wagon again. Not after reading all the encouraging posts. I too will reach my goal and stay there, happy and healthy on the Beach.

Love to all!~

Here it is, Day 13 of Phase 1. I have to tell you about last night. We went to a picnic at our church. DS and I managed to steer clear of the buns, corn on the cob, baked beans and Pringles. We ate Metts, which were not the best...but only thing available. But...I did stray and eat four (pretty thin) bites of carrot cake with frosting. If I were out of Phase 1, I guess it would not have been such a big deal. Then, I went to adult night at our swim club and ate a bunch of peanuts. :( . I am thinking of extending my Phase 1 by a couple of days, maybe even another week. DS, however is ready to move to Phase 2.

So how do we transition from one phase to the next? What types of things should I buy? How about amounts? DS is anxious to get back to eating fruit. How much is too much? How much whole grain bread should we start with? What did you do?

Thanks for any advice.

Christine

If you can get the whole wheat La Tortilla Co. tortillas, they are great for starting phase 2. They taste great, too and make terrific wraps. I added in berries as my first fruits, lowest in sugar. You will love phase 2.
I have a confession. I did have some wine last night. I actually had too. I have discovered that without a small amount of it, I go back to IBS with major constipation. Wine works like a charm! (Sorry if too much info.;) )
I really don't think it will effect me too much as I have been on SBD for months now. I cheated a few times, but never anything major. I only restarted to jumpstart my loss again (before I see my skinny inlaws:p )

Everyone keep it up!

Hi all! Haven't visited for awhile, but I am still hanging in there on the beach. I've finished 5 weeks (3 weeks on Phase 1 and 2 weeks on Phase 2). I'm down 15.2 pounds.

I should be excited about the loss so far, but I am feeling a bit down. I started at my all-time high weight of 206.2. My first goal is 10% or 21 pounds so I'm getting there.

I think the problem is - losing 15.2 pounds and no one can even tell -- I hardly can! So a pep talk is in order!!!! Please tell me about your success with staying on SB and getting over hurdles and moods like this!

I know it took me years to put on the weight and it will take time to get it off again.

neverlandclub- thanks. It has been a long haul. The last time I weighed 130 was my senior year in high school 12 years ago. I am now 18 pounds from that. I am hanging in there and hope to be an inspiration to everyone.

Christine- I agree with neverlandclub. I love laTortilla factory. They don't stall my weight loss at all and you can make all kinds of great food with them. I also use a bread by organic bakery and it's a low carb wheat bread. It is so terrific. Keep looking for the whole grains, lots of nuts, low carb sweets that will satisfy.

MickeyMagic, hang in there. Don't give up and don't be discouraged. I wish Lisa would log on, because she was in a similar situation to yours, and she has done an incredible job with her weightloss journey. I know you probably want people to notice, but give it time. When they do the compliments will make your head spin. I also think that we are much harder on ourselves than we need to be. I have lost 35 pounds and still wonder if I look fat. I'm in a size 8 clothes and it's like, no it can't be. I think it takes a new attitude on our parts and that will make this journey so much easier. Come back anytime you want to vent, talk or just need a hug. I know you can do it!!!

MickeyMagic--just think about the story your bloodwork would tell about you! Even if you have a hard time seeing it, I bet you are feeling it in how much healthier you are. The visual effect will come. Just hang in there. When you start "showing" you will probably be amazed at what a dramatic difference you see all of the sudden.

Thanks neverlandclub and sm4987 for your advice and encouragement. I was in the store earlier and picked up a loaf of wheat bread. The first listed ingredient was stone ground coarse milled wheat. I think that should be appropriate. I am looking forward to having a piece of toast with my egg on Sunday morning! Speaking of eggs, I have gotten tired of them every day for breakfast! So much so that I skipped breakfast altogether this morning. Not a good idea, I know. Well, I did have a V-8 with my vitamins.

Anyone know if the Dreamfield pasta is acceptable on SBD?

DS and I have completed Phase 1 and are enjoying our first day of Phase 2. We each lost 8 pounds. We are very happy here on the beach.

IMGONNABE40!, wtg. 8 pounds is great. Just add things back slowly as you go on to phase two. You will be pleased as the weight just continues to come off.:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hello everyone. Wow, it's still quiet. I hope everything is going well with all. Have a great week

Thanks for the kind words, hugs, and encouragement. I guess I was just having a bad day the other day. Today marked single digits until our trip to WDW - so life is good!!!

Hello everyone. How are we all. Well I've just finished the stay off the scale challenge and I'm 7 pounds lighter. Got a new clippie and a great perspective about that darn scale.

Hope everyone is doing well, and sticking to the plan. :wave2:

Sheree and Lisa- just saw your posted weight losses on the "stay off the scale" thread. Congrats to you both for making it through the month, and on the new clippies. I'm looking for my 25 lb one real soon.

imgonnabe40- Welcome to Phase 2! You have made it through the hard part. Congrats on the 8 lb loss.

Still hanging in there and am encouraged by all that post here. Everyone keep up the good work! :Pinkbounc

Well, I have to say I just came to the beach on Monday, and here it is Thursday.

My Dh is also on it. In turn, our kids are eating low carb dinners as well.

I don't have a scale, but I did measure myself prior to starting and today.. there is 2 inches off my waist.

I have to say If I never see eggs again, I will be happy!
I know Phase 1 is the toughest, and I will get through it.

I have been off the boards for a few days due to a remodeling project at the house and staying from work to be there for the contractors.

Anyway--Phase 2 and DS and I are both up a few pounds, although visually he looks a lot slimmer through the middle. He is back to football practice and is likely toning up. Not sure what my excuse is, although my clothes seem a lot looser than when I finished Phase 1. Perhaps I should also stay off the scale--at least for a couple of weeks.

We are eating some carbs. DS has some fruit nearly every day. I have been having a slice (or 2) of wheat bread each day. We have had triscuits with lowfat cheese. A high fiber cereal about every other morning. I am careful about the bread on teh days I had cereal. I really don't think we are overdoing it on the carbs....but the scale seems to tell a different tale.

Welcome to to the Beach Cindy B (and your DH.) Sounds like things are moving in the right direction for you. I think if your kids can develop a healthy pattern of eating that they will be much better off for it.

Congrats to all who were losers on the stay off the scale challenge. As I said, I think I will try that. My birthday is on the 15th so I think I will stay off until then.

IMGONNABE40!, I would just try to wtch how much good carbs you are adding back. i know that from reading Lisa's journal, she is also watching how much good carbs she eats so that she doesn't gain any weight. Don't be discouraged and don't give up:wave2:

Anyone have a good low carb blueberry muffin recipe? I have lots of fresh blueberries and I love muffins. Made one this morning that wasn't good.

Thanks!
