If you can find this book, there are some amazing looking recipes in there. Last night we tried the "Strawberries Romanov" - it is basically a puree made from fresh strawberries and orange zest (we used lemon zest - no oranges in the house) and Splenda. You then add some sliced strawberries and serve it over a half cup of ricotta cheese. It is absolutely delicious and friendly for any phase of the diet.
 
Arlene - Welcome! It's nice to have you with us. You are doing so well. I'm confident you'll find continued success with South Beach. This is a great thread to get and receive encouragement on your journey. You can do it, we can do it together!

Jerry - I've seen SBD cookbook in stores and was wondering if it was worth the money. I'm not a fan of the ricotta desserts but it does sound interesting. I'll have to check it out.
 

I bought my SB cookbook at Sam's Club for about $15.

It does have some good recipes. I have to admit I wasn't crazy about the ricotta dessert I tried. Maybe I give it another try with different ingredients.
 
The big thing I have noticed about the ricotta desserts is either one loves them (like me) or dislikes them altogether. I have found that if I put the ricotta in the microwave for 10-20 seconds it melts enough to become really smooth. Also, with some of the desserts, if you add a touch of fat free half-and-half and put the dessert through a blender it comes out smooth as silk. Try one of the chocolate recipes through the blender and I think you will change your mind.
 
Jerry, you are soo right about the Ricotta desserts. I eat one daily. I add a tsp of peanut butter to mine...yum! yum!
 
Hello everyone. Just wanted to check in. I know I said I'd weigh in Friday, but Dh and I realized last night that there was a problem with our scale. I am happy to report that I am 2 pounds down and have claimed my 25 pound clippie!!! 25 more pounds and I'll be at my goal.

Did you know that I was shooting to weigh what I did in high school? 130. Keep "wishing" me on!!!!!!1
 
Good luck, Sheree'! If I tried to get to my high school weight, I'd have to weigh 125. There's no way that's gonna happen. I'm sure you can make it though!!
 
and so far it;s been easy. We have been eating really healthy since January 1st but I wasn't losing any weight so my Dr. suggested SBD. Went to Vegas last week and although not officially on the diet, cut back my carbs and lost 3 pounds! I hope to lose a bit more by my fist week.

My daughter is a chef and is having a real hard time with cravings, working around chocolate and she is a fussy eater. God help us all until she gets used to it. Pray that she sticks with it for her health...

My husband too has an easy time of it, I will post here and there just wanted to say hi and glad I found all of you. I have not read all the pages because there are too many but I will go through a few now and then.

Jerry - thanks for the ricotta tip. I only tried it once - my very first day on SB. Could be I was trying to convince myself it would taste like ice cream
 
Hey all, I am on Day 10 of phase 1, I am having no trouble with the eating, except one thing, it has only happened once, but in the course of things, I am sure it will happen again. I went to a dinner at a friends and they didn't really have anything I could eat, I just ate it, only a little though, but what could I have done? Have any of you run into situations like that, and what do you do? I mean if there is nothing else to eat there, and you are being served.
 
First time to WISH board, but frequent others. When I saw this thread, just wanted to jump into my spot on the Beach. Started 1/1/04 and have lost 32 pounds. Goal is 80-100 total, 50 by WDW in October.

Hi all!

Doing well w/ SB, except I've had 3 different dinners in the past week for various groups I've involved with. Let me just say I've eaten quite a bit of chicken and green beans :p Starch, starch and starch everywhere, with a lot of sugar on the side.

Made the artichoke dip that someone posted tonight and it was really good.

Lost 7 lbs in 9 days. Yeah!!!!

ASFCurly- I haven't been in a situation like that yet. However, I know it can happen. At that point you make the best food choices that you can and hope that it doesn't come back. Just remember that SBD allows for instances that you don't eat well.

Here I am at day 6, and the scale has not budged! No cheating on any of the days. Exercising, though not every day, but every other day. Also, drinking my water. Anyone else have this experience? Will I see more progress on the scale after Phase I?
 
leanne2255- Welcome. No, I did not have a problem losing weight in phase 1. During the first 5 days, I think I only lost a pound or two. After that, it really came off and the first two weeks I lost 10 pounds. Don't give up, hang in there. It will work

Thanks for the encouragement! I plan on sticking with this diet. It is the first diet that I have ever been on where I am not hungry or craving things I can't have. We'll see what another week of Phase I brings.

When did you get the 55 pound clippie? Wasn't it just a week ago that you hit 50 (or have I not been keeping up like I should)? GREAT JOB!!!!!
 
Hey, just started the Beach diet today. Want to lose some unwanted pounds now that baby turned 1 (no excuses anymore). I hope Phase 1 goes quickly.

I am anxious to see what happens.
