South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Today was my third day with SB, and my boys' school held their volunteer appreciation luncheon for us today. Talk about temptation! Everything seemed to be some type of salad. I made due w/tuna salad, egg salad, some chicken dish w/grapes and a spinach salad w/almonds and mandarin oranges. I know I wasn't supposed to eat the fruit, but it wasn't very much. Please tell me that the fruit and whatever was in those salads that I shouldn't have eaten won't blow my diet.

I was very proud of myself as I didn't even look at the dessert table. :happy2: I just grabbed a dang cheese stick when I got home and munched away. Not as tasty as that chocolate cake, but it won't show up on my waist tomorrow. :)

are you doing Phase 1 or 2. Fruits are allowed in Phase 2. Grab the book and look at the list of acceptable food. I think you should be fine. WTG passing on the dessert table. That is my biggest temptation sometime

I'm finishing up day 3 on Phase 1. I was hoping that 7 little tiny pieces of fruit wouldn't mess me up to bad. :)

Finishing Day 2 on Phase I. So far, I found this VERY easy. Almost too easy. I'm not hungry. I'm not craving anything and feel very satisifed after eating just salmon and veggies for dinner. Made the ricotta creme last night, and just loved that. I hope the rest of Phase I goes as easy. DH is on it too, and feels the same way. We also both slept very well last night. I hope that is a good side effect from the diet.

Any words of wisdom from other SB dieters?

Welcome. The SBD is a great one to be on. My words of wisdom is 2 things. Drink plenty of water and exercise. I love water so that wasn't as hard for me, but getting up and being motivated to exercise was. Just hang in there. It stays this easy.:cheer2:

It's so nice to have new ones on the Beach with us!

I'm reporting in for the week my weight loss. I've lost 2 pounds this week which brings my total to 55 pounds and I claimed my beautiful new clippie! Woohoo!!!!

Welcome Leanne and momm2four if I haven't welcomed you before!

Leanne - I so agree with you about this diet being so easy. I keep telling people that ask me about my weight loss that is almost too easy! But I'm not complaining. One piece of advice I'd give you is to focus on the delicious foods we can eat and not on what restrictions you have. That makes the program more doable. Also, find a way to take your favorite dishes and make them SBD friendly or be willing to try new stuff to keep from getting bored. Tonight I'm trying a recipe called "Just Like Stuffed Baked Potatoes" made with cauliflower. It sounds yummy. Okay, and one more thing, you can't beat the combination of this program and a good exercise routine. Enjoy!

I posted here a couple of days ago, and was kind of tired so I typed the wrong thing. I started the South Beach Diet on Monday, so one week is down, and as of this morning, I have lost 5.5 pounds, for a total of 15 pounds in the last 2 months. I tried the Ricotta Cream thing, and didn't like it, and the just like mashed potatoes thing, and thought it was ok, and can't eat too much chocolate, gives me headaches, so I only eat it occasionally, so except for the low carb ice creams, does anyone else know of any other dessert type things I might be able to have?

ASFCurly - Congrats on getting through your first week on South Beach. Congrats to on your loss!!!!! I don't like the ricotta things either. I thought it tasted yucky but many SBDers like it. I eat no sugar added ice cream slightly less than 1/2 cup so I'm just about within the 75 calorie per day allowance. I also have made sugar free chocolate pudding (of course they have other flavors beside chocolate). The no sugar added popsicles are reportedly good and so are the no sugar added fudgesicles. Some people like to melt dark chocolate and dip fruit (Phase 2) slices like strawberry in them.

I hope this helps. Keep up the great work!!!!

To tell the truth, I'm not really missing the things I can't have during Phase 1, except for my french vanillla creamer in my coffee. I naturally like veggies, so it's been great to actually eat more than I usually do, and to incorporate them into breakfast. I also love salmon and have been getting the rest of the family to eat it, so now I can have it more. I weighed today just to take a peek and I'm down 1 lb after 2 days. I won't weigh again until the week-end. I'm trying to only weigh once a week. It's too depressing to look at the scale daily.

I know what you mean about the scale. I've been doing some serious weight training and I probably won't step on the scale until the weekend. That's when I'll weigh in next. I totally forgot about sugar free pudding. May have to add that to my menu.

I love mixing cream cheese with some vanilla DaVinci syrup with a little splenda. Then I grap some of those low carb tortillas and fry them till crisp. It makes a great dessert. Oh, add some cinnamon to it. YUM!!!

I am transitioning into Phase II - note my clippie - exactly 10 lbs and 4.5 inches.:Pinkbounc I am happy. I could stay on Phase I for another week but I will do Phase II because I don't want my body to "forget" how to process all carbs. I am planning to repeat Phase I again at the end of the month. We have a family wedding in 6 weeks & I'd love to be down a total of 20 lbs.
I did have one "bad" meal - client took me to lunch at a great little country diner - never heard of salad. I had a roast beef sandwich on white bread with mashed potatos - all smothered in gravy. It was one lunch out of 14 during Phase I. I decided that would not end my diet - it didn't & I still dropped 10 lbs. Considering that I have hypothyriodism (which slows the metabolism), I am thrilled.

mom2boys- congrats on the weight loss!! Phase 2 is nice when introducing some good carbs back into your system.

Hi Everyone,

I am just 12 days away from Vacation and my goal of losing 20lbs before I leave! I lost 2 lbs last week to make my grand total since starting SBD on February 10th...17 lbs!!!!! YIPPEE!!! Just three more to go to make my goal!:earseek:

I am so very excited about this trip with my family. We have had a difficult year. I am looking forward to our whole family being together for two whole weeks for our very first Disney trip. I am JUST as excited to be going on vacation as a slimmer, healthier person. I feel the best I've felt EVER. I am soooo glad I have found SBD!

This thread has really been helpful to me right along! Wish me luck in the next twelve days in making my goal. I really feel as though I can do it! I am eating at phase 1 till we leave which will hopefully help!:flower1:

Have a great day,

E.:sunny:

Ooooh! That does sound good! I'll have to give that a try. Thanks!

BTW, check out my new clippie!!!!! :hyper: I lost 2 lbs this past week and FINALLY made it to 15 lb loss. It is still taking F-O-R-E-V-E-R!

Glad to see we have a lot more people on the Beach! What fun!!! :sunny:

WeirdEyes- That is great. I'm still trying to lose that one pound to get my 25 pound clippie. I think this added exercise is making me gain some muscle.

BTW, the low carb mission tortillas are really great with the cream cheese mix. Use the splenda to sweeten as you like. I have also added lemon juice to the mixture and it gives it great flavor. I use my mixer to make the cream cheese light and fluffy. It is so great that even my kids eat it.

famfab5- I missed your post. Congratulations! I hope that you make your goal. That will make your trip so much better. I hope you have a great time!!

famfab5, I also missed your post. Great job! Good luck and I hope you get to your goal. :)

Sheree, I am definitely going to try your recipe. Thanks!

What wonderful success we are having here on the Beach!

famfab - I know you'll make your goal before your vacation so here's an advance Woohoo for you!!!! Have a great time.

Sheila - what a great looking clippe you have earned. You should be so proud. I know I'm proud of you. Keep up the fantastic work!

mom2boys - congratulations on your weight loss!

Thanks, Lisa! I am VERY proud of you also. You're an inspiration to us all! ::yes::

Hi all!

I've been an active poster over on the Disney Cruise Line boards and just started South Beach Diet a week ago. Can anyone join here? The support looks fantastic (and just what I need!). I considered joining the South Beach Online but thought I'd check if there were any threads over here. I found you!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc The price is also right (lol) leaving more money to save for my next Disney trip:earsboy:

I've had a serious weight problem since becoming hypothyroid and gaining about 60 lbs after radiation treatment. Also had my DD (now 7) since then. Starting at 217, but weighed in at 210 this morning!

This diet could finally be the answer for me.:sunny:
