South Beach Dieters......... Unite

ASFCurly- There are lots of low-carb whole wheat breads out there, so I think that it would be fine. If you decide to do the Beach, come back and check in often. We are a friendly group and are all really trying to lose this weight.

Good luck

Thanks for the help, one more thing, water, I drink plenty of water during the day, but it still isn't enough, and I get bored with it and want to drink something else at home, skim milk is ok, but I only want so much of that, not supposed to drink regular soft drinks, and I can't handle aspertame, so anything sugar free (diet pop) is out. Is there anything else that would help, things that would count as water, or things you can put in water to make it better, someone mentioned Crystal Light? But I don't really know what it is, if it is good, and if it would count as water. Thanks again.

I would drink the water. One of our members here had a problem with gall stones from lack of enough of it. Try to drink as much water as you can. Now since you said you don't like aspertame, then most drinks are out including Crystal Light. It is made from aspertame . I can suggest buying unsweetened tea or making it at home and adding Splenda to it. That is what I do quite often. I take Splenda with me everywhere. I too hate aspertame. However, I love water and it is usually my drink of choice.

cool, thanks again. I really try with the water, I drink a lot more than I used to, most days get enough, but I used to drink lots and lots of Dr. Pepper, and am trying to get away from that, so wanted something else other than water to have when I have to urge for the pop, maybe the unsweetened tea with Splenda would work.

Splenda is wonderful. My husband the sugar king is now hooked on it. They are beginning to put it in lot's of products and to me you don't miss the real thing at all. The tea is a gret way I think to get in your water intake.

Hi guys! I'm new to SB and to this thread. I started SB yesterday at 161 lbs. and woke up this morning at 159. I know that weight can fluctuate like that, but it's been a LOOOONNNGG time since I've seen the scale under 160. I am so excited, especially since I ate well yesterday and really liked everything I tried. (Especially the "peanut butter cup" dessert last night)

I have seen lots of people talking about drinking water, and I know I should, but I really dislike just plain water. I found these drinks at WalMart called Clearly American, which are flavored carbonated water w/ no calories, caffeine or fat. Can that count as water or do I have to drink straight water w/no carbonation?

TIA!
Lori P. :)

Welcome Lori!

You are doing so well right from the start. I'm not sure about the carbonated water. I don't see why it wouldn't count as regular water but I would try to get in as much of the regular water as possible. What I have found is the more water I drink, the more I actually have started to crave water. It's strange.

Hi Lori - welcome to the Beach.

Some studies are of the firm opinion that water means no-flavor-added-old-fashioned-h-two-o. Others state that the body will take water from whatever souce it can get it (I tend to subscribe to the latter, but that is just me  ) We use the flavored carbonated waters from WalMart and Giant, etc. I also drink a LOT of Fruit-2-O - I have a drawer here at work stocked with bottles. Fruit-2-O is sweetened with Splenda (sucralose). One thing to watch is the sodium content.

Hope this helps,

Here in the Northeast you can buy Diet Rite soda, made with Splenda, and I believe Diet RC (cola) is also made with Splenda.

I am currently doing Atkins, but am about to switch over to South Beach.. it just seems to make more sense to me at this point. Look for some future posts from me!

Hi!

I am checking in...just a few more weeks till vacation and my goal of losing 20 lbs before we leave. I am down 15 with just 5 more to go. I seriously think my body LIKES being at 144 because it just won't budge from here...LOL Which is fine really because I am once again wearing a size 8 and I am feeling terrific! :flower1:

This summer I will work on toning my body which I am finding it needs so very much. Last time I was this size was before children and my whole body structure has changed which is to be expected.::yes::

I really would love to lose that extra 5 before leaving though! Just to give me a little elbow room. Easter taught me how hard it is for my body to bounce back from even one splurge!:worried:

Any suggestions for stepping it up in these last 17 days??!!

momm2four-

You and I started at about the same weight...I am confident you will love this WOE! It has changed my life...

Have a great day,

E.:sunny:

Thanks for the answers....I think I'll use the carbonated water for a while, as carbonated cola is my biggest weakness.

I just had the best lunch though, Dill Shrimp on Romaine salad w/sugar free strawberry/banana jello and no-fat Cool Whip. Can you say YUMMY! I felt like a gourmet cook, and my DH also enjoyed it.

Thanks again for the welcome and the answers! Hepefully, I'll be back in size 10 by my cruise next October. :)

Hi everyone! I haven't posted for a while again...don't really know why. I am quite stuck again on this diet. My body seems to like being at 155. I did buy a size 10 today, but didn't try it on. Some of my 12's are getting loose so I thought I'd try a 10. I don't understand why my clothes are getting looser and I haven't lost any weight or inches in several weeks. Right now, I've only lost 1.5 lbs for the whole MONTH of April. I hope all of you are doing better than me. :D Cheers!

Have you been working out? If so, you have been replacing the fat with lean muscle tissue, which is denser and takes up less space. A pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat.

I have a question, I have been reading the SB book, and have seen where he says to have fat free pudding, but is it fat free and sugar free? If so, what kind is it? I have been looking and can't find it. (Or am I misreading that?)

Hello everyone. Well I'm weighing in and lost a pound. I think my body likes the 160's. It is really slow going right now. However, I found out my husbands been buying the wrong kind of ice cream and it may be slowing me up. I hope next week is a bigger change. My clothes too are getting loser and loser. WeirdEyes, I think we may be in the same boat. I've been working out much more. So, maybe after our bodies get used to adding muscle, we'll start to see the scale moving again. Well I'm off, I'll check with you all in the next couple of days.:flower1:

Hi Jerry! Yes, I've been working out. I'm doing 3 Miles of Walk Away the Pounds with 5 lb hand weights in each hand. I then do about 50 sit-ups using my stability ball.

Good news! I weighed this AM and I've lost a pound! So I've actually lost 2.5 lbs for the whole month of April. That still doesn't seem like enough to me. My MD says I should at least be losing 5 lbs a month. Oh well, at least I'm not gaining. I need to lose one more lb before I can claim my 15 lbs clippie since I joined W.I.S.H.

51 lbs down, 10-15 to go!

WeirdEyes- I understand tht you lose more slowly during the second phase. I seem to be doing the same thing. I weighed this mornin and finally I'm below the 160 mark which brings my loss for the month to 3 pounds. Not bad, but I too wish it was much more.

I know you're right, but I'm an impatient person...I want results! LOL My cruise is in 31 days and I wanted to be in a size 10. Looks like it will still be 12's. Oh well, at least I'm no longer in 14's or 16's like I was. I should be grateful.

WeirdEyes- I'm laughing with you right now. I leave for WDW in 36 days and I too so wanted to be into a 10 by then. But it looks like I'll have to settle for the 12 also. I'm happy not to wear a 12/16. It's a relief and I truly enjoy looking for clothes again.

BTW, I'm not patient either. DH is just laughing at me. He's like 24 pounds is nothing to be sad about. Then it's followed by, Oh you women:o
