I was looking at the menus for the Destiny on the Disney Cruiseline Blog and noticed that they have reorganized things so that the soups and salads are now under the Appetizers. Does this mean there is no longer a soup and salad course? I know you are able to order multiple appetizers if you want, but I am curious if the structure of the meal has changed.

Hmmm..... I always thought "appetizers" always included soups & salads, as well as other items.

I never noticed. But it does not matter because you can order soup, salad and appetizers.

I sometimes ask the server to bring my soup first and salad with appetizers when I am done.

Happy cruising :earsgirl: 🚢

I noticed on the Destiny MV they combined appetizers with soup/salad. You can order whatever you want and they will bring it in the order you ask, so I'm not sure what the purpose of combining them. Maybe to get people to order less? Or is it a precursor to them paring down the menu selection.

You can wish for it… and they will get the same course you’re used to!

I feel like this may be a way to speed service up, since not everyone at the table may order from each course, it could theoretically allow for soups to be served the same time someone else at the table has an appetizer.

I just got off the Destiny-you can still order whatever you want. We definitely had people that ordered both a soup and salad with no issue. Sometimes I would order multiple appetizers and skip the soup and salad altogether! I don't know the reason for the change, but it didn't seem to have any effect on our dinner options.

They also used to have a menu specifically for dessert that they presented after dinner service. That is now on the menu with everything else. I think it is just to save time.

When there is a show aspect, they make you order everything at same time. Also the moved the lighter fare and standard steak, salmon, chicken all into the entrees instead having separate sections on the menu.

A friend went on a Pixar cruise on the Fantasy and shared the menus from the Pixar dinner and it was the same. Soups and salads listed under the heading appetizers and the former Lighter Note Offerings were just listed as normal entrees. I guess we might see this being rolled out fleetwide when new menus come out.

They have done this for all the menus on the Destiny, not just the ones with shows. It really threw me in 1923! However it did make dinner faster so I’m all for it.

That feels like Disney is setting itself up for wildly worse reviews. I like the Lighter Note options because I need to stick to my diet, even on vacation, but if someone orders one of those three dishes thinking it is a normal, non diet dish they are going to be wildly disappointed
