I have read that people use them... The first few nights I heard others but after that I was just to sleepy to hear small noises.

What brand is yours if you like and it and how much do they run???
THanks

I use one all the time (we live in a college town so I need to drown out the late night revelers...plus I'm one of those people who hears a pin drop across the house).
The one I use is a "sleepmate" which just make a white noise sound (think hair dryer/air conditioner). You can control the loudness and intensity of the sound but it doesn't make other sounds like ocean waves, forest noises, etc. like some of them do. I think it runs around $40. I like it, it works for me and we did take it with us to WDW last year.

There are dozens of them out there and they run from about $30 all the way up to hundreds. I would not be without one.
Homemedics is one good brand they sell them at Linens and things, Bed and Bath etc.

That's the brand I use...at home and away, all the time, and if you can get the 20% off coupons, you can save on the basic models!

My sleepmate is close to 20 years old now. In the meantime I've gone through 3 Homedics, I guess it's a matter of the old timey machine being built better than the new fancy electronic one. It never fails though, the Homedics ones will just die, or sound like they are about to! :rotfl:

One is a conair from walmart that is around 20.00 it is small and light weight. Great for travel and it is the loudest. The other is homedics and it was around 35.00.

Never leave home without the conaire because I'm a light sleeper.;)

Mine is a combination travel alarm and sound machine. I like it because it's small, will run on batteries or electric, and because I know I can rely on it to wake me up (I've had hotel alarm clocks fail to do so many times). I bought it at Brookstone a few years ago, and they don't have this exact model any more.

We have a Homedics I got at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I wouldn't go to DW without it. :)

I'm not at home to look at it, so I can't tell you the brand name, but I bought mine on clearance several years ago at Target for about $14.00. It has like six different sounds and of course the volume is adjustable. It goes where I go. I'm a very, very light sleeper, so wouldn't be without it. There is no way I can sleep in a quiet house, much less a strange hotel room with strange noises.

I saw one in Wal Mart the other day for less than $15.00. I don't know how good it is, but it looked fairly small. It was out in the center of the main aisle with some other stuff they had put out for Christmas (bath sets, massagers, feet whirlpools, etc).

Thanks for responding everyone. I think I will try a low priced one out and see what I think....:thumbsup2
