I called and booked the magic your way with dining (1 quick service, 1 snack, 1 table meal) with tickets for parks. I know I saved money but I have no clue how much? I never got dining so I have no idea on the price of that :confused3 I have to figure it out so I know how much my sister has to chip in for her tickets and dining. I got room, dining and 6 day tickets for 8 night stay for my son (8) and me and it came out at 1,763.00

I'm not sure why how much you saved matters - don't you just need to know the price per person (adult or child)? And then confusing things more - you say you got a package for you and your son for $xx - where does your sister come into play?

sorry i did not play her into the picture..I am treating her and her daughter since it's my son's birthday and i want to surprise him by taking him for a unexpected trip with his favorite aunt and cousin (my sister has not been to dis since she was 10 and her 11 year old daughter has NEVER been) she does want to pay for their park tickets and dining but i will just tell her we got free dining so she won't have to worry about that. to tell you the truth ..I just want to know if I made a good deal!! I was not planning on dining since we don't like dessert and just like a cup of joe in the morning but love a good sit down dinner. the lady i spoke to at the spanish speaking line was just so nice and helpful and adviced me to take the plan so I did....please tell me I made a good choice.

If you post where you are staying and what your trip dates are, I'm sure someone can help you figure out how much you are saving with the offer you got. Without these pieces of information, you can't determine.

I'm not exactly sure how to figure how much you saved. However, a room only discount is usually the better option for us because we do not spend as much money on food as the dining plans cost. We are a family of 5 with 2 ten year olds and a 5 year old. Your best option would be to call and get the price of the stay/play/dine discount and the room only discount and compare the price of the 2 discounted packages in order to figure out the best deal.

Go to the Disney website and look at rack rates for your resort, room type, and dates. Then look at the price you would pay if you purchased the dining plan and your tickets separately as add ons. That is the maximum price. Subtract what your package is costing you from that number and that is what you are saving.

For example (just picking numbers out of the air):

Let's say you are staying at POR and your travel party is two adults, one Disney adult (between 10-17 years of age) and one Disney child (between 3-9).

Lets say that the rack rate for the room (including tax) is $300 per night and you are staying five nights. So the room at rack would be $1500.

Let's say that the dining plan for adults was $45 and for children it was $35. So to buy the dining plan for your family for five days would be $850 if you paid full price for dining.

Let's say you want 5 day PH tickets, and the price is $250 for adults and $175 for children. So the rack rate for tickets is $925

Your rack rate total for comparing purposes would be $3275.

If your package is $2000, then you are saving $1275. If your package is $2275, then you are saving $1000.

Of course, I'm just pulling numbers out of the air to use as an example because I don't have your specific information - but that's how I calculate what I'm saving.

If you want to compare RO vs Pkg, just do the additional calculation using the RO rate for the room, then adding your ticket price and oop budget for food to it. Then compare that total to the rack total and pkg total to see which is the better deal.

thanks. i did compare and came out to 320.00 in savings!.. not bad, I 'm happy!

Did you book one of their specials? Did the price come with tax? The $320 could be tax. What are your dates?

ok ...finnaly did all my math. Just one thing I'm not sure about..the diference between just room and tickets and room, tickets and dining is 500 $$. one adult one child 8 days (we arrive late first day ,leave early last) I'm trying to figure if it's worth it??:confused3 my son eats normal food..he can't survive on fries and chicken finger for one week, I never have dessert and don't eat breakfest. should i keep the plan?? is it worth it just for a nice fish dinner and sandwich for lunch?

Very easy. Are the two of you going to eat $500 worth of food that you could use dining credits for? Or more? Food is expensive at Disney, but my family usually spends $1000-$1200 for week and there are 4 of us, 2A, and 2 kids between 10-13.

Well maybe not so easy because you need to figure that out. Lol.

thanks.. I think that maybe I'll keep it. you are right food and drinks are expensive. to bad kids have to pay like adults, my sister's 11 year old daughter is really petite and my 9 year old son is taller than her and eats twice as much!

Take a look at the menus on all ears. Personally, my family never comes out ahead getting the DDP unless it's free. We're not huge breakfast eaters either. We will have ice water with our meals (free). We will also split a meal once in a while and sometimes I would rather just have an appetizer for a meal. Each families eating style is different so you just have to keep that in mind when seeing if the DDP is really worth it or not.

Where ru staying and what are the ages of the kids? I think the s/p/d will be a better option for 4 people vs a room discount but you should save more than $320

Edit: nm I see the ages but which resort?

my son will turn nine while we are there so for us it's one adult and one child in one room. my sister and her 11 year old in a second room at . we chose to stay at a value so we could have our own room and bathroom. we are staying at pop

I think the price you were quoted is a good one. Rack rate for your room/tickets/regular DDP is 2196.57 for 1A/1C (11) who is considered a Disney adult.

With the exception of the bathroom I'd consider pricing a moderate and staying together or is that not an option? You'd get a slightly bigger room, regular ddp w/out having to pay the upgrade, queen size beds instead of fulls except at CBR, and much better pools IMO. The four of you could stay at POR the same dates for 2882.10 total.

you are right! staying at a mod. together is cheaper! we will just have to suck it up and take turns using the bathroom. thanks! I'm chanching my reservations.

:) thank you!!!! You were so right. changed my reservations to coronado springs, the room is bigger so we can manage and saved 700 dollars from what i was going to pay for the two rooms at pop :cool1: never stayed at coronado but I will do some reaserch now. If you ever come to the D.R I owe you a cold beer:beach:

I love CSR my fave mod the pool is awesome for the kids! Also the buffet there is only a QS for breakfast and lunch! Best bargain for breakfast anywhere on property IMO

Have a great time!!
