My use year is Feb. I have all of my points for 2001. I have not banked any points yet but will bank some by July 31.

If I make a ressie now for Feb 2002 (before I have banked any 2001 points) will they ultimately use banked 2001 points for the ressie in 2002 (as I will definitely bank some) or will they use 2002 points since those were the points available when I made the ressie.

The equivalent question (I think) is will DVC always charge a ressie in a given year against points banked from the previous year before charging against current year points.

If you book before you bank, they will book it as 2002 points. If you later bank your 2001 points, you can have them change the allocation to use those points for the Feb. 2002 trip. (Even if you bank first, you should make a point of asking MS to book the trip with he banked points if that's what you want.)

Yes and No. If you make your reservation before you've banked any 2001 points, they will use your 2002 points. However, once you bank your points, request that they reallocate your reservation to use the 2001 points you just banked.

A word of caution..Most MS reps will automatically use any banked points when making future reservations..however, you are ultimately responsible for managing your points, and it is always wise to confrim with MS that they are indeed using the points you wish them to use for any reservation you make. 95% of the time MS has automatically used the correct points for our reservations, however, I have run into a few situations where I've had to request them to use the banked points before using the new use year points. After I make a reservation, I also confirm with MS that what I believe I have for a point balance and status of points, agrees with their records. I usually do this with an email so I have a written confirmation that we are in sync.

MS is very easy to deal with and are very good at helping you understand how to manage your points.

thanks for asking the question. We are doing an add on and presently have a reservation out in the future and we wondering the exact thing that you were asing about. That is what makes these boards great, the sharing of useful information.
