Sorry Gaston, They are MUCH More Interesting Than You!*6/8* NEW Trip Report Link p154

Before I get on with this next update I just want to mention that I update all our chapter links. So if you missed Cynthia's last update or her amazing cooking lesson, please check that out. Also there is a link to a special guest appearance by Pat!

DIS Meet Extreme

When I envisioned writing this update, I had hoped that the outcome would have been dramatically different.

You see, not only did we have a big group DIS meet planned for this afternoon, we also had a very special DIS meet planned for the morning. Several weeks or more before this trip I had been talking to Tracy on FB. She seemed very certain that she would be coming to F&W. She had two more treatments to go and was pretty positive her doctor would clear her to travel. I knew Tracy was staying at BLT and Cynthia and I already had a Wave breakfast planned. So I asked Tracy if she would join us. She happily agreed.

I was very excited and a little nervous to see Tracy. I know she really struggled with her cancer treatments. Apparently she had a gene set that made her particularly vulnerable to the side effects of her chemotherapy. She needed to be hospitalized after almost every round of chemo for IV fluids. She was very concerned about her weight loss and was looking forward to eating and enjoying food again.

Since breakfast wasn't until 10:30 we both got up and exercised - Cynthia to the workout room and me to the great outdoors. We stopped in the gift shop on our way over to the Contemporary. We wanted to pick out something nice for Tracy and Cynthia ended up finding the perfect gift.

Now you would think that Cynthia and I could be on time from our breakfast date, but the Disney transportation conspired against us and we ended up being a few minutes late. Here's why - instead of our boat going straight to the Contemporary, it went to Fort Wilderness. Oh rats!

But I enjoyed our little bonus cruise and used it as an opportunity to take some pictures.

Looking over our shoulders we had a great view of the WL

Here we are approaching the dock at FW

Bye FW

IMG_9652.jpg

Once we were on our way we passed another boat

IMG_9651.jpg

Another great view of the lodge

IMG_9653.jpg

We also passed this little island which had obviously been inhabited at some point

IMG_9656.jpg

Anybody know what this is? Didn't there used to be some island, Discover Island?, that was a bird sanctuary?

Approaching the Contemporary

Zooming in on the WL

IMG_9661.jpg

I think these rooms at the Contemporary are really neat. I know everyone wants to be in the tower, but I think these rooms right along the water are pretty cool. A little isolated with a wonderful view.

IMG_9663.jpg

I felt bad that we had kept Tracy waiting. It was so wonderful to see her and we literally had the restaurant to ourselves. The Wave has a nice breakfast menu, plus a lovely buffet. Really the best of both worlds. We went to check out the buffet and we all decided that would be our dining choice.

My favorite thing on the buffet - lox and bagels! I love this. I could eat it every single morning and never get tired of it. So good.

Here's my platter. Sorry its a cell picture and the lighting is doing nothing to demonstrate how yummy my breakfast was.

IMG_4297.jpg

We stayed at the Wave after breakfast and talked for quite awhile. Despite Tracy's concern over her weight loss, I think she looked wonderful. Besides her arms and legs being painfully thin, she looked lovely and had a pretty glow to her skin. At one point she told us that she didn't want to give up the fight - she was fighting for her father because losing her would destroy him. Gulp! I could just feel my eyes welling up with tears. It was a poignant moment and one I will remember forever.

I did not take any pictures during our meal, but I am thankful that Cynthia took this picture of Tracy holding the pillow we gave her.

IMG_0994.jpg

Cynthia hit it out of the park when she selected this gift. It was perfect!

It's hard to believe that this lovely lady left this world less than two months after this photo was taken.

I know that many of you already watched this, but if you haven't, here is a link to the youtube video I posted for Tracy. We were all in a photo pass share, so between the pictures I had from prior trips and these photos, I was able to put together the video. I contacted her brother Jim to get permission before I posted it. I wrote the second song for her. It just came to me. Unfortunately, I recorded the guitar and vocal as a single track, so the guitar sounds pretty dead. No amount of remixing it could make it come alive. I hope to re-record the guitar as a separate track.

Here is my favorite picture of Tracy from the video. She is accompanied by her niece and her friend, Sue.

After breakfast we went back to Tracy's room at BLT. She had a lake/MK view that was lovely. The last time I stayed at BLT the sink was outside of the bathroom. I really like how they remodeled the studios and I really would like to stay there again.

From Tracy's room the three of us walked over to the Contemporary to catch the monorail to Epcot. It was time to head over to the DIS meet!

I took a few pictures while we were waiting to catch the Epcot monorail

Keeping with our lateness theme, I think we were one of the last to arrive for our DIS meet at the R&C. Cynthia and I made little goodie bags for the kids and you can see it didn't take long for Cayle and Avery to open theirs.

IMG_9672.jpg

Look how pretty Avery's hair looks

IMG_9671.jpg

IMG_4298.jpg

So who made it to the meet: Mary, Sheree, Brook, Christine, Melissa, Cynthia, ME, Tracy, Pat, Avery, Cayle (Mary's girls) and Sara, Paige (Sheree's girls). Both Mary and Sheree's DHs were there (not pictured). We were just a tad bummed that Henry and Joe were not there.

IMG_9673.jpg

It was so fun to meet everyone. All of the girls (little girls) were just lovely! What beautiful children!

One more picture of our happy group. Notice I am already fast friends with Cayle and Avery! That made my day!

IMG_9675.jpg

After we all chatted for a bit we dispersed to go our separate ways. Tracy met up with her niece and friend and headed over to France. Cynthia, Pat, and I made a quick loop through part of the WS.

The sky was just so beautiful today

IMG_9691.jpg

It looks like we didn't go too far because my pictures find us heading back to France

IMG_9694.jpg

IMG_9695.jpg

Apparently we did have at least one adult beverage!

IMG_4300.jpg

Since we had party tickets for tonight, we made it a very early afternoon. The plan was for the three of us to meet back up at the Wilderness Lodge to change into our party costumes. Then the three of us would head into the party together.

Here's a few more pictures on our way out of the park.

Up Next - Halloween Party Here We Come. The question is - As what? :rolleyes1

I'm pretty sure we were among the last to arrive to the afternoon DISmeet!!
My girls were so excited to receive a gift from you guys! That was so sweet! It was so fun to meet people in person and hear their voices!

Really? I never noticed, actually. I was just so glad everyone was there!

Your daughters are so adorable! I'm glad they liked their little goodie bags. You must have such a wonderful time vacationing with them because they really are at a perfect age.

REally? Speciality Asian market. Hmmmmm - I don't think I have one of those around here, but whenever something is worth it its worth some incovenience to get it.

As luck would have it I have one on the route home from the Chiro/Massage. Never paid it much attention before but ours is in an old Winn Dixie.

:rotfl: She really does. It's not really dementia she is suffering from, its dismentia! :rolleyes1

YES!!! It is. :rotfl2:

Also there is a link to a special guest appearance by Pat!

Awww thanks

As for May 2014.... Would love to.... May can be a tough time for me. I am going this year so depending on how it goes will determine if I am "allowed" to go next year. :lmao:

Look what I found while on Living with the land with Rosie and her crew.

IMG_9133.jpg

I guess Cayley and Avery were on a behind the seeds tour??? Either that or they escaped from a boat. :rotfl2:

Wow - that IS convenient! You're a lucky girl! Speaking of chiro - I need a good chiro for my neck, but that's a whole other issue. :rotfl:

YES!!! It is. :rotfl2:

I have been known to have attacks of DISmentia, myself!

Well, if there is anyway you can swing it, definitely plan for it. I think we are planning on the second week of May right at the end of F&W. Long weekend maybe?

That is too funny! That Cayley is so darn cute! See - it really IS a small world. Get it? Small world! :rotfl:

I'm sure this was a difficult update for you to write, MaryEllen.

The photos are beautiful, as always: I especially like the ones walking around World Showcase. But the best is of your mega DIS meet with Tracy and with you holding my girls hands. :goodvibes

Wow, what a great update. I'm so glad yall were able to spend that nice breakfast with Tracy. That pillow really was a great gift.

What a fun DISmeet! It's nice that you were all able to do that.

That looks like a PERFECT day at Epcot, ughhhhhh, it's just SO PRETTY.

Great update, as usual. We will be heading to Disney this Thursday!! These reports are getting me so excited (and reminding me of everything I need to do this week while trying to work.....)

How wonderful that you were able to have breakfast with Tracy. That pillow really was the perfect gift. pixiedust:

What a fun DisMeet!! :goodvibes

Haha I will never get tired of the Fountain of Nations either! I really could watch it for hours!

What a wonderful morning! You made some great memories at your DisMeets.
I love the pillow, how perfect!

Thanks for sharing :goodvibes

How wonderful that you got to have such a nice breakfast with Tracy. My eyes welled up just at the comment about her fighting for her dad... what a terrible thing is cancer. Hugs to you, Mary Ellen, I'm sure that wasn't too easy to write about.

You guys picked out the perfect gift indeed! That pillow is adorable.

I love all the pics you took on the boat on the way, I love taking the boat. It's so relaxing!

What a great DisMeet! Wow! How fun for so many of you to get to meet up!

Aaaah! I can't wait to see the party update!

Nice picture!!! I see Hidden Mickeys.

It really was. What happens on the doggie path definitely does not stay on the doggie path! :rotfl2:

That's why they need a baggie stand there!

**************************************************

Cynthia and Pat- enjoyed your recounting of awesome afternoon and evening, with bonus tracks!

The pumpkin mousse does look and sound amazing!!! Mmmmmmm!

What a great meet in Mexico!

Glad you found some food. Love Tangierine!

Love your gorgeous photos from the boat over to the CR!

What a wonderful couple of DIS meets- can't think of a better way to spend a morning.

I'm glad you and Cynthia had a nice breakfast with Tracy. Great gift for her.

On the cool artsy pic of the monorail track- was that done all in the camera or lots of post-processing?

Awesome, awesome pictures, but my only comment is that you need photoshop that water bottle out of this picture and add in either a margarita or a Grey Goose slushie!

Can't wait for the party pictures!

Going through my pictures....

I guess I thought that hat was great too.

IMG_0099.jpg
It really is interesting. I'm not typically one to really notice what people are wearing, but I'm pretty sure I'd spot that one too. Especially after a few drinks... :rolleyes1 :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Past Figment
Ok, I've got to say, I couldn't see your pictures at first on my work computer. I had to get my phone out to see them (thank goodness for smart phones). I'll admit I was little disappointed. When I saw "Past Figment" I guess I was expecting some kind of retro Dreamfinder and Figment picture or something. :rotfl2::rotfl:

I got some video - pretty neat actually. Click on the picture.
Cool! Although that isn't exactly the dancing that Morocco is known for. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I'm glad that you had the opportunity to have breakfast with her that morning. I'm sure it was great to be able to spend some quiet, quality time with her, and I know that moment will always be with you.

Wow, epic Dismeet! :worship:

Ok, don't hold us in suspense for too long... I can't wait to see what your costumes of choice were. :rotfl:

I know that you are so glad that you had breakfast with Tracy that morning and were able to spend some time with her. It's a memory that I'm sure will last a lifetime.

What a fun Dis Meet! We've met Mary and her girls before and they were the cutest things ever. Ya'll make one fine looking group. :thumbsup2
