We usually go to WDW in November or March Break so this is the first time we have gone in the summer. Do we need to bring at least one pair of long pants and one long shirt or is that just a waste of space??

If you have lived through this summer in Ontario, you understand where this question is coming from .... of course except for this week!!

Waste of space in my opinion. It is dreadfully hot in Florida right now. It's the humidity that gets you!
Next week will be our third trip there during the month of August. Even at 11 o'clock at night, you will see everyone in their short and tees.
We do pack hoodies but those are for the airplane where it can be cold.
I only pack shorts/sundresses for my girls and skorts/tanks/tees for myself.
Enjoy your trip! (I know i will!):cheer2:

hyes this week is hot....i took it off to do day trips withthe kids and am wanting that nice cool weather we had up till last week. I am going to wdw first week of Sept and I know it is a waste of space but I am bringing one light weight long sleeve shirt and pants...for the bugs if nothing else.

not a fan of Ontario heat so this should be interesting.

10-12 years ago, I would pack one bag with long pants/hoodies for the family.....5 kids 12 and under, plus DH and myself. I remember unpacking them and thinking how hot they were, since the bag remained in the car top carrier. After doing this 2 or 3 times, I learned. No long pants/sleeves. If I had a very lightweight l/s shirt, I might pack it, but I understand that even WDW has reduced the amount of air conditioning. I can't say that I've ever been bothered by bugs, so I don't need it for that. So, I remain, long -pant/shirtless again.

Leave the long pants at home. We live in shorts an t shirts while there in August. I will probably wear long pants and bring a sweater for the plane, as I find it cold flying sometimes, but that's it.

hasn't anyone noticed? There are no bugs in wdw! I think it's too hot for them...lol

actually this year people are complaining of bugs at wdw. We were going to do the carriage ride at fw but instead I will wait till March when we go and the bugs ARENT there. My dd reacts to bug bites so if there is only one bug there we will find it.

Leave the long pants and heavy sweatshirts at home. Last Aug. we went and it is steamy.
Maybe take a lighter long sleeved shirt for the plane and AC in the restaurants.
Have a great trip:)

Thanks all - we leave in 2days and I am so excited - the long pants have been thrown aside - an extra bathing suit added and we are good to go!!!:cool1:

It actually wasn't a stupid question-we were there in APRIL and had to go over to buy coats (coats!) and jeans at the outlets because we froze.

And we drove down from Georgia, one state over! :rotfl2: I swear it was totally hot when we left.

Florida is the twilight zone when it comes to weather.

my kids were light weight long pant/sleeve pj's at home all year. I like it cool in my house. Will they be too warm in the htel rm at night? Please tell me no as I need it cool to sleep. we keep it at 68 just at night.

I am leaving is a few days and will be bringing ( well actually wearing) 1 pair of pants. Not beacause I will need them weather wise but because I am flying and I won't travel in shorts. Call me crazy or germaphobic  but I can't stand the thought of bare skin on an airplane:scared1:

Don't bother with the pants and long sleeves.

We have gone several years in a row in the summer and every year my DH brings a pair of jeans. They never leave the suitcase. The girls and I will wear capris on the plane but we don't even think about them again until we fly home. I used to bring a very light cardigan to wear in the restaurants but it's so hot that the cool air feels good and is needed to cool you down.

You probably won't need the long pants, but I always carry a sweater around with me - the busses tend to be FREEZING as well as some of the restaurants. Better to have it then sit there with your teeth chattering!

I am debating this myself...not too warm but too cool. I find "people" (including my dh ) just automatically turn up the ac in hot places. I know I have spent the night trying to find a blanket to pull up over my cold arms. Also like to have something cosy to wear in the evening around the hotel room. Maybe long jammies for me and let the rest of them fend for themselves.:rotfl:
