sorry,another visa post

Thanks Alison, I'll see if my conviction shows up. Afterall, you husbands didn't, that must make a difference. I wonder if they really can see all about us at the airport, or if they just use peoples fear and honesty to get us to "bare all", not to mention the money they get. Will let you know how I get on.

Well, we'd been to the US under the waiver system for the last 7 years with no problems and DH was warned by the Embassy, when he called for advice a few months ago, that if he were to apply for a visa now they would think he'd been lying for the last visits and might well turn him down! :confused3
It was only my nagging that made him ask
What sort of a system is that?
If there's nothing on the system here I, personally, can't see what can be found elsewhere :confused3
Anyway, see what the courts say :goodvibes

Above all, if it seems at all doubtfull, cut the stress and have a brilliant holiday elsewhere :goodvibes .
I have a ''work head'' that I apply in times of stress which carries me through many a situation but I'm sure it does me little good!

WDW is fantastic but I'm pretty sure Disneyland Paris will be pretty cool too ;-)

Memories are extremely precious and shouldn't be spoilt by logistic worries - I know I nearly allowed it to happen to us.
Crikey, when all's said and done, we're all normal tourists, wanting to have a fun time with our families - not master criminals!
Whatever you decide, have fun

Sorry to state the obvious, but I am travelling in May - June 2005.

Do I need the new style passport?

You either need a machine readable passport, or a visa. Hope you have a machine readable passport - doubt you'd get a visa in time! Sure you have, unless it is really old.

Anyway, contacted the local court today for my records, they said they could do a manual search but their computer records only go back to 1997! I am going to check with Scotland Yard. However, the lady at the court said most people aren't bothering for really old trivial offences. Don't think she would say that lightly.

No, they can't, because you are protected by the Data Protection Act. As you suggest, they rely on the fear factor. Don't be bullied and, more importantly, don't worry! :)

I got my visa because of the 'fear factor' at least I can fly now without worrying about wheather they know about my convictions or not.
Getting a visa takes the worry away.

Have a fantastic holiday and, above all, have fun   .
We really shouldn't need to be afraid of silly mistakes we made though in order to get on our dream holidays with our families!

Well said Alison

Thanks Rob :sunny:
I've just spent the last 10 minutes, since I posted, thinking I might have had one glass of wine too many and spoken out of turn - despite the fact that I meant every word
I love the whole US experience but the 'security issue' does seem to be getting a little out of hand now.
