Okay so we have reservations at the Boardwalk in August and are considering switching to OKW to save some points. We specifically booked at BWV for the convience of the area and all that...so here's the cast involved:

Me (DW), DH, DS 6.5, DD 5, DD 2.5, Grandpa, grandma, uncle, and cousin 14 yr old girl. Everyone still gets around fine and I booked at BWV because I figured they would enjoy the boardwalk atmosphere and the ability to get to other locations easily (although I will admit that extra walking although doable is a little hard on Granny).

We have a 1 bed and 2 bedroom (both standard) booked so we would end up saving a total of 25 pts to switch to OKW. Is it worth the savings or will we be kicking ourselves later?!

We've stayed at both and enjoy them both but obviously think it's extremely awesome to be at BWV right where the action is. However, the bigger rooms at OKW are also nice.

What'd you guys think?

If Granny has a problem with stairs too, I'd stick with BWV. Getting to EP and MGM by boat requires no stairs, whereas in OKW, every park requires a bus, which means steps. Both resorts are great, but BW is easier for anyone "mobility-challenged". (Also, if you request a villa located close to the elevators, and explain the health reason, you'd make it even easier for Granny.:goodvibes

Although I love OKW if I had a standard view at BWV booked and it would only save 25 points I would stay at BWV. Have you stayed at both?

I think you answered your own question in your OP. Stay put.

You would gain one more real bed and more space. But being you have two large rooms booked I do not see space being an issue. I wanted to stay at BW this year but I am ending up at OKW for the extra bed as my BIL has a slight handicap and everyone -except my son- is the age where they want a real bed. I did give them a choice...
My MIL was all for the BW but she would NOT be the one on the sofa bed :lmao: but she will also not consider a CS for breakfast much less dinner or lunch :confused3 My son on the other hand will not consider a sit down breakfast maybe a dinner a few times a week but that is just WAY to time consuming
I am just the driver :car:
If the extra real bed is not needed (which it does not seem to be) I would stay with the SV at BW

Hey, I can still make it up a flight or two! :rotfl:

I'd stay at BWV mostly because there is no guarantee that your rooms will be near each other at either location. It's probably easier to get together if you are all under one roof at BWV even if not on the same floor. At least with SV you know you won't be at opposite ends of the resort.

At OKW, you could conceivably be quite far apart.

On the other hand, you do have a lot of folks so the extra space at OKW might be worth it.

thanks guys, I know we should just stay put. I'm sure we'll be glad we did. I was just having one of those moments. There's just so many plans to make!-Sometimes I start to question myself!

:goodvibes Thanks Granny! Good point about the size of the resort and how spread out we could find ourselves at OKW, I hadn't even thought of that. (although I don't want to be too close to them....:rotfl: )

When we have a big family group--ages 8 to 70's--we like the Epcot resorts.
Everyone can go in different directions, each at his own pace with so much ease! DSIL is a runner & appreciates the Epcot area scenery, too!

We tend to meet up & split all throughout the day. It's simple, even for novices, to get to different types of food venues. The teens gravitate to Epcot & MGM. FIL loves to get out early in the morning & go out for breakfast (even though we DVC & have the kitchen), so he has a wide choice of easy & fast to get to spots.
Although, most of the family has been to WDW, none of them know how to navigate the parks or transportation as easily as we do, so being in the Epcot area are makes it miles--probably literally!-- easier on them.

We love OKW, too & go there as a immediate family. I find it very relaxing & love the spacious villas!

It's probably too late now, but if you really wanted to conserve points, are you aware that a 3-B/R Grand Villa at OKW would use fewer points than a 1-B/R Std BWV plus a 2-B/R Std BWV villas would be.

EG 5 nights, magic season, OKW Grand Villa = 255 points

5 nights, BWV magic season, 1-B/R = 120 points
5 nights, BWV magic season, 2-B/R = 160 points

Total BWV = 280 points.

Based on your original posting, I think your dates are 5-days (weekdays) in Dream Season, since that combination is one that shows a 25 point difference between your two rooms at BWV vs. similar rooms at OKW.

For those 5 nights, Dream Season, weekdays, an OKW GV would be 225 points, or 260 points for the two BWV rooms, a savings of 35 points.

Just FYI.

Not YOU, silly!:lmao:

Hi, we thought of that option, but we prob. wouldn't be able to get it (although ya never know) but most importantly DH thought he might end up jumping off the balcony if we had to shack up w/them. :scared1: I mean I know it's a huge space, but still it would mean really being w/them 24/7. Love 'em and all but you know what I mean...
