Are the soarin rides at DL and WDW the same? Same scenes?
The line at DL is also a lot shorter IMHO.

Even more than that, the whole feeling of Soarin at DCA is much more upbeat than Epcot. At DCA Soarin is located in Condor Flats which celebrates the real history of aviation in the real state of California. I love Condor Flats and think it is one of the best themed areas of DCA. It was the first area of DCA that "worked" for me back in 2003.The ride is exactly the same in both parks, but the queues are different.
and the entrance and queue are sterile and uninspired.Even more than that, the whole feeling of Soarin at DCA is much more upbeat than Epcot. At Epcot they show a movie about Californiaand the entrance and queue are sterile and uninspired.
Bottom line is Soarin at DCA is more enjoyable because it is located in California and the theming is much stronger.

Couldn't agree with this more. Add it to the list of rides that are better at DL and DCA than at WDW (of course, not everything is better). And as far as flying over Florida goes, I think Cali just has a much more diverse, scenic vibe. Snow capped mountain peaks, sandy beaches, giant forests, busy cities. California has it all.
But hey, I'd fly over Detroit if the imagineers could come up with a good enough ride for it.
Or how about flying over WDW? It's certainly big enough. Then again I keep thinking they should invent a video game where you water ski through Small World. I digress.
The queue for Soarin' in Epcot is OPPRESSIVE! It is inside, in a long, poorly lit corridor, and people shove and push and then cut lines to get to their families in front of you. I hate it.
Soarin' was introduced at WDW during the year that they introduced different shows/attractions from around the world, and I think it was 2006. Like Lights! Motor! Action! was from Disneyland Paris. I forgot what the other things were, but it wasn't ~totally~ random.
the occasion of all the new rides/shows in '05 was that that was the year that Disney, Inc stole Disneyland's 50th Birthday and renamed it "50 years of Disney Parks" or some other such nonsense. Instead of focusing on the park that was 50, they made it all about the "sibling" on the East Coast.
FWIW, in 2005 DLR debuted BLAB and TTwC, as well as the refurbed Space Mtn. Plus they got Remember Dreams Come True. Not a bad year I would say. They sure did. Sleeping Beauty Castle got a 50th Aniv. makeover and WDW got Lights, Motors, Action!, Soarin' over California, Cinderellabration, Wishes, Mickey's PhilharMagic (my personal favorite but not the point), Turtle Talk with Crush, Mission: Space, and the Cinderella Castle Suite

Well, it was more than just Sleeping Beauty's castle.I would agree, but that list pales in comparison
