Sopranos this week--anyone watch???

Here is the background on the Saint upon whom the parish is named
St. Elzear
Feastday: September 27

Elzear was of noble parents. He was born at the family castle at Ansouis, Province, France. He was educated at St. Victor's monastery in Marseilles by his uncle, who was abbot and was married to Delphina of Glandieves when both were sixteen. He inherited his father's estate, becoming lord of Ansouis and count of Ariano in the kingdom of Naples when he was twenty-three. He managed his estate with firmness, prudence, and ability and Elzear and Delphina were regarded as an ideal married couple, known for their holiness and piety. In 1317, they joined the court of King Robert of Naples, and Elzear became tutor to the King's son Charles. Elzear was named Justiciar of southern Abruzzi by Robert, acted as Robert's envoy to France to arrange the marriage of Mary of Valois and Charles, fell ill on the trip, and died in Paris on September 27th. Elzear was canonized in 1369 in a ceremony attended by Delphina. His feast day is September 27th.

From the more traditional New Advent

Baron of Ansouis, Count of Ariano, born in the castle of Saint-Jean de Robians, in Provence, 1285; died at Paris, 27 September, 1323. After a thorough training in piety and the sciences under his uncle William of Sabran, Abbot of St. Victor at Marseilles, he acceded to the wish of Charles II of Naples and married the virtuous Delphine of the house of Glandèves. He respected her desire to live in virginity and joined the Third Order of St. Francis, vying with her in the practice of prayer, mortification, and charity towards the unfortunate. At the age of twenty he moved from Ansouis to Puy-Michel for greater solitude, and formulated for his servants rules of conduct that made his household a model of Christian virtue. On the death of his father, in 1309, he went to Italy and, after subduing by kindness his subjects who despised the French, he went to Rome at the head of an army and aided in expelling the Emperor Henry VII. Returning to Provence, he made a vow of chastity with his spouse, and in 1317 went back to Naples to become the tutor of Duke Charles and later his prime minister when he became regent. In 1323 he was sent as ambassador to France to obtain Marie of Valois in marriage for Charles, edifying a worldly court by his heroic virtues. He was buried in the Franciscan habit in the church of the Minor Conventuals at Apt. The decree of his canonization was signed by his godson Urban V and published by Gregory XI. His feast is kept by the Friars Minor and Conventuals on the 27th of September, and by the Capuchins on the 20th of October.

I have no idea what this means, but since David Chase almost never places something that significant in the story without some additional meaning, I am presuming that the choice of St. Elzear has some significance that is escaping me

Her aunt said the feds questioned her after her niece turned up missing. I think someone is working with the feds but have no idea who. If they questioned her 2 years ago they have had time to get someone else planted in the organization.

What we are seeing is the gradual "undoing" of each and every character. Every empire has to fall...
::yes::
I think you are right.

I am glad to hear there are more than 3 episodes left in the series. I thought it was 3 more total, not just 3 more this year.

I did notice Adrianna appearing to Carmella in an earlier episode (Carmella was at the house that was being built), so I think they are hinting at something happening with her later on.

One of the season reviews before season began complained that they would jump the shark tank in one of the episodes this season? So far I havent seen any shark tank episodes and have been very enjoyable.

The one working with the feds is the old guy who is always "making rounds" with Paulie or for Paulie. I don't remember his name but Tony killed his brother a few seasons back. His brother may have even been his twin.

And I think no one is 100% loyal to Tony except Tony. Sil, although panic/asthma- stricken, was somewhat enjoying being acting boss when Tony was laid up. He puffed up every time his wife gave him a compliment about being "acting boss."

I cracked up when Chrissy was bragging on his $300 he made on the wine. I know these actors are not stupid, but they sure do a good job of making their characters look like very stupid people who think they are so smart.

I am so bummed that they are almost done. This show made a 3 year overseas tour (USMC) bearable for me, my husband and all of our friends.......

Yeah, we have watched it for years but we thought it started a little bad at first but boy is it getting intresting. LOL

"Did it have to be a pair of socks?" lol!!
The feds need to 'have" something on you to get you to turn, I don't think it's Carmella. Chris using in California and again at the festival was really depressing. I almost cried when they showed him sitting in the alley hugging the dog. His wife, Kelly, seems pretty nice. I feel sorry for her, he's creepy. I don;t think there will be any BIG ending in this series. Many will die but that's normal. I think they will go on as usual with us just fading away. Just my opinion.

Carmella is guilty by association.

I'm not totally convinced she's turned or will....but I'm betting someone very close to Tony will.

The way Paulie's been acting, feeling betrayed, etc......I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being him.

Then again....there's Vito who might turn just for his own protection. He knows he's a dead man if he ever goes back home.

Is anyone else thinking there may be a future connection to the biker gang the wine guys mentioned (and Tony and Christopher laughed about) and Vito's new friend's motorcycle buddies? I was thinking about it and wondering how it might play out. :scratchin

Ooh, good thought! Hadn't crossed my mind, but you may very well be right. How else would they play out Vito's whereabouts?

Maybe the person to turn against the family will be AJ. He's been out and about bragging about his father's business while spending thousands of dollars at one club. No one has anything on him, so he could easily find things out and report them back to the feds.

Overall I think this new season is pretty boring and that these episodes seem to be going in 100 different directions.

Same here. We are only watching just because we have watched all the prior seasons.

I had a thought about the "Vipers". I don't think they're connected to Vito's new friends in New Hampshire, but I do think the Vipers will come back at some point. I thought it might be kind of funny if, at the end of it all, a "Viper" whacks Tony. It would go to show how random life and death is, no matter how much the New Jersey capo regime is behind Tony or against him. Or maybe they'll whack Christopha?

One interesting thing that happened in this ep is that Phil & Tony cut Johnny Sack out of the vitamin deal....that will be significant...new alliances and secrets. Johnny Sack is out of the power picture now.

Also, Christopher's new wife is just an Adrianna replacement for him...that's why we don't know her. Notice he mentioned Adriana right away with her. Ade is def. going to haunt him...

I also think this season has been very boring, but Sundays episode was getting back to the real Sopranos. I think Vito might turn to the Feds for protection, I would love if Adrianna comes back, they never actually showed her being shot(DID THEY?) Also i know it is horrible, but I liked Christopher using again, he will be a ticking time bomb with the new wife, new baby, and old habits back.

I think Adrianna is dead. I think Chris will be haunted by her. I think it's possible that Chris will get busted on drugs and turn on Tony. So the trusted Chris could be the one that sends Tony to jail. Chris could tell about Adrianna and could also tell about Ralphie.

Another possiblity is Carmella. She already thinks she sold her soul for nice things. She now has doubts about what really happened to Adrianna. Carmella doesn't really know anything for sure. So her only out would be to kill Tony.

Apparantly the reason they didn't show Adrianna being shot was due to the amount of complaints the show and HBO received after the episode in Season 4 where Ralphie kills the stripper.....too graphic especially for violence to a woman apparantly

My predictions are that Vito will be killed somehow up here in NH by the gay boyfriend/cook and never heard from again ending that story line.

Also, I think that Christopha's girlfriend will miscarry and he will beat her up in a drug induced rage for losing his child or vice versa with him beating her in a rage, causing the miscarriage. I think the "H" he's using again will end his life somehow, by death or by stroke and incapacitate him.

Carmela will not flip to the feds on Tony because she knows what's at stake for her. She loves her children and wants to be their mother and she loves her "allowance" from Tony too much.

Paulie will probably have cancer, why would they scare him in the story line unless they want us to see how vulnerable he really is.

Anyone else notice that sleeze bag Janice was only concerned for her baby and not Baccala's son - her step-son on that ride?

I wonder where they are filming scenes for NH? They really do have to work on their accents, they are trying too hard, sounds nothing like us ;)

I also think Carmella will not ever be turning to the feds, I agree her family is too important to her. And yes Janice is terrible, she only thinks of herself and her daughter, the poor stepson looked miserable on that ride.

I agree. I don't think we're supposed to know or care who Kelly is or where she came from. Chrissie just married her b/c she's pregnant or "pregnant" depending on your opinion. After all, Ade couldn't have kids and everyone knows how badly Christopher wants them.
