SOOO Upset with Disney

Did you get invoice thru post? I just got an email confirmation, never had anything thru post.

I did get the email, but it said I would get an invoice within 2 weeks of booking. After waiting for 4 weeks, I called Openride and asked them where it was. They said they had sent it, but never got it. I think I called them about 3 or 4 times asking for it and eventually came through about 2 months later. I like to see things in black and white on paper, with my luck something always goes wrong.

I had very similar problems last month, although not quite as bad as yours!

We were going to book the 4+3 deal in the US, but the Coronado Springs only had king rooms available for our dates, which wasn't an option as we are 3 adults. So I figured I could try getting a quote from a Disney specialised travel agent, well-known in these circles and maybe they could get a standard room. This did indeed work! However, in between asking for the quote and actually getting it (took a few days), I found out that the currency exchange rates with the Euro made a full price booking with DDP in the UK cheaper than the 4+3 deal in the US.
So I explained this to the travel agent, thanked them for their services and eventually booked 8 nights (so one extra) via the UK hotline. All went well, until the 90-day mark came around...

I called WDW-DINE, was put on hold, then transferred, put on hold some more... you know the story. Then finally a very nice CM comes on the phone to help me with our ADRs. Of course, she could not find any record of our reservation! She spent half an hour contacting several departments and finally came back with some good news: she found it! She also gave me the US ressie number for future reference. It takes about 45 mins more to finish the ADRs, but I got everything I wanted .

A few days later I get curious and want to try if I can log in on the US site with the US ressie number to view the reservation, but the site tells me my phone number is incorrect. I end up calling the US reservation line to find out in which format my phone number is registered with them and the CM tells me that because I booked through a travel agent, I cannot view my ressie online and there is no phone number mentioned in their system. No matter how I try to explain to her that I did not book with a travel agent, but with the WDTC in the UK, she persists that I did. A few transfers later, another CM goes into more detail and tells me " *insertonlinedisneytravelagenthere*.com is the travel agent you booked with". So apparently, even though I did not accept their quote or paid a deposit or anything along those lines, that travel agent had booked in my name. And now all my ADRs were connected to that incorrect booking! Again I try to explain that is not my booking, but they won't have any of it, because they can't find anything else under my name . My best argument was that this incorrect ressie was for 7 nights and that I had booked 8 with Disney in the UK. Then they think I booked with some other travel agent in the UK and that I should contact them... :sad2:

As a final effort I called WDW-DINE again to make sure that my ADRs would not be cancelled if that incorrect travel agent booking is cancelled and they reassured me that the ADRs would be safe. But still, the US reservation system had absolutely no record of our booking.

Needless to say, there were some sleepless nights... I just don't understand why they want to make it all so complicated, when using the same type of reservation number in the UK as in the US could make it all so simple :confused3.

Oh Traci, this is horrendous. I'm not looking forward to booking mine as I too have booked through Disney UK. Booked ADR's for the last 2 years & it was quite a pleasant experience (had booked packaged deals) I used tel no. then but it must have changed. Glad today went a little bit better.

Cosmicgirl,,, don't like to see anyone else suffering, but glad its not just me if you know what I mean!

Your experience sounds as horrendous as mine, hope you manage to get sorted out.
Well I have spent ages again today trying to get through to dining. Managed to get through after 1.5 hours of trying and booked Ohana dinner for our 11th day there, and got the CM to check that my other ressies were still there and they were :yay:
BUT...... its still just showing that i only have the quick dining plan arrggghhh. Just hoping that its because it was only done this morning and it hasn't had time to update yet. I can't call again to book my next ressie till Monday, so if it hasn't updated by then I will go crazy as I need to book CRT on that day.

Stephensmum: I have been twice before and always found booking my adrs really painless, but that was with other travel companies.. if I were you, I would make sure you get your US ressie number before trying to book your adr's, it will save you a lot of stress :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear of your problems and can well understand you wanting things clarified, but to making your ADR's I made mine without a reservation number as we are booked with VH, I told the CM we were booked through a UK TA and she just asked which hotel and the date of check in, could you try without giving a reservation number?

Yeah I did try without giving the reservation number but they couldn't find my booking! I know a lot of people do manage to do it that way, but with the way things are at the minute I think its safer to get the disney res number.

Just checked my itinerary on the virgin Website (never quite understood why it shows up on there as if you'd booked with Virgin when you've booked with Disney, who knows?) and I can see that the dining plan has been added on....

Hi Traci,:goodvibes

I am so glad you managed to get it all sorted :thumbsup2
It must be such a relief.

WOw - I'm so glad it's all figured out. What a nightmare. Actually it's a good thing you found this out now instead of at check in - can you imagine!!

Sounds like a complete nightmare. I'm not looking forward to doing mine in January now :sad2:

However, is it just Disney UK guests who are having a problem? We're booked with Virgin Holidays...

Arent flight inclusive uk disney packages booked through virgin holidays - so did you have a virgin reference number?:confused3

I have a feeling its not just flight inclusive ones - but actually all disney uk bookings go through virgin, which is why you get a "disney uk" (aka virgin!) booking number rather than the proper disney US number.

After all the mess some of you lot have been having, I'm tempted to avoid disney uk and just book with disney US! Even with the additional cost from the poor exchange rate, I'll probably still end up saving money by having less 0870 follow up phone calls to sort things out!!?

I didn't get a Virgin booking ref. Had a few in past years and it didn't resemble any of them. It was a Disney ref, just Disney UK not Disney US.

With the difference in price booking on .com was not an option. Paid £2,164 on .co.uk On .com it was £5,800 when we booked. Now they have free dining offer on it would be $6,390.53(£4,204)
Also on .com you only get 10 day MYW tix, with .co.uk we have 21 day tix.

They are booked through a company called Openride (who i am sure are Virgin in disguise) and if a Virgin ref is say 32***/S09 then yes you get one of them.

Openride is who Disney UK use for all their flight inclusive holidays. I haven't had as many problems as Traci but it did take nearly 2 months to get an invoice from them.
If i want to pay any money off etc i have to ring the 0870 Disney UK number and ask to be put through to Openride who handle my booking.
Confusing or what!

I actually asked them for my 12 digit Disney ref when i phoned to pay some money the other week ( I had read on the Dibb about people having problems) and they gave it to me there and then, so i haven't had the same problems as others have had with Dining reservations. Thank god!

Anyone know of any difficulties booking ADRs under the new system if you are staying offsite (ie have no Disney reference at all)? I had no problems booking mine on the phone for my trip last month, but I believe a new system has been installed since then?

Yeah like Brigette said, the ref number is 32***/S09 so i assume its the same as a virgin ref number as we can log in on the virgin site and virgin atlantic to view the flights.
There was another thread the other week about DTD Virgin check in and I asked if we would be eligible for this, seeing as for all intents and purposes it looks like a Virgin holiday even though it was booked through Disney if you know what I mean.

Don't know how you would go on booking if you weren't staying onsite, I did this 3 years ago and it was pretty painless, just told them I was staying at Grosvenor and booked adr's no problem. Don't know how it would work out now with the new booking system?

Just checked my UK disney reference number and its different to this its just 6 numbers - so it looks like flight inclusive get a different number - but other uk reservations are still given a different refernce from the US site - what a headache!

I spoke with a CM today and she told me that they're having training issues because of the new system. She said that by the time I'm making my ADRs (Sept 3rd) that all of the problems should be sorted. I guess that I'll just have to wait and see!

Mines 6 numbers but now have 12 numbers from US cast member.

I hope its OK by then after all us guinea pigs have sorted it out for you:rotfl2:

Oh what a nightmare, glad to hear it's sorted for you now! I didn't have any problems in 2007 but now i'm quite glad I only have 7 days' worth to do this year.
