Sooo...how "weird" is this? Question about couples massage.

My MIL and I are getting massages on Castaway Cay...she has BUCKETS of change to be rolled at her house, and she said she'd treat us to massages if I rolled them. :thumbsup2

Anywho, we were thinking of just doing the "couples massage" as we can lay there and talk to one another. However, is it considered too weird, or is it supposed to be a romantic thing? We just figured that we'd do that, and I think it saves $5 rather than doing it seperately.

I booked the massage under my reservation...will DCL think it's for my husband and I, or does it matter? Just don't want there to be any confusion once we're there, or find out it's a COUPLES type of thing...and not a couple of friends :)

I don't think it's weird at all. But I will say that you are actually paying more for a couples massage as opposed to doing them seperate. No clue why that is but that's what I've seen.

As for the couples massage, I would call Disney but since they are open minded, and you paid for a couple, it shouldn't matter if it were a couple of girls. LOL.
Hint about the change, we live in Florida and have machines in the grocery stores that process your loose change and print you out a slip. You take the slip to customer service and they give you the cash. I would try to find out if one of your local grocers has this machine. It might save you tons of time and energy for a small price to pay.

There's no reason at all why you and your MIL shouldn't/couldn't share a Couples' Massage. There is nothing at all "romantic" about it, really. You're on two separate massage tables with two separate CMs doing the massages.

If it's an experience you'd like to share with your MIL, then by all means go together, and have a good time chatting during the massages. :)

OMG...When did you get married? The picture is BEAUTIFUL and your little girl looks so happy. BEST WISHES AND ENJOY THAT MASSAGE WITH YOUR MIL

Have fun!

currently a couple's massage is $242 and the individual well being massages are $109 per person ($218 for two people in two different treatment rooms). Go figure.

We just returned Saturday. I saw a Mother and Daughter share a couples massage. It was on the ship not CC. I think it is probably pretty common. Have fun!

We did the couples massage on CC (my DW and I) eons ego. It wasn't particularly romantic, so I don't think you and your MIL would feel strange in any way.

During any massage, I don't feel much like talking!

Also, the banks will do this for free. Take the change in and they "dump" it in the machine - easy as that! Plus, no fee :thumbsup2

Massage wise, who cares what they think- its your vacation have fun - like others have said I'm sure they have saw it before and much MORE...LOL

Wow...really??

My best friend from college bought the two of us (girls) a cabana's couples massage as a way of thanking me for all of the group-planning that I did to lead up to our cruise. We had a blast, and ended up chatting up with the two massage therapists, too. Yes, it was not the traditional "quiet, introspectic, aroma-laden" massage that I'm used to, but it was awesome nonetheless that we had a blast.

So, in answer to your question - I think DCL sees this quite a bit. (I might do one with my mom for a Christmas gift next year, for that matter, since we're doing the 2007 cruise together.) And secondly, whether on CC or in the spa, I think you'll greatly enjoy not only the massage, but the rainforest time, the sauna time, everything else that goes with it.

My sister and I did the Couples Massage last year. Then we hung out in the Rainforest room, then grabbed lunch. It was a great 'girls day' for us. :thumbsup2 (We live several states apart and only see each other a once or twice a year).

About the change - I would check with your bank - when I worked at a bank years ago, we preferred it loose because we had a change counting machine (if it was rolled, we unrolled it). But now, my bank wants it rolled. Neither bank charged for turning in coins. But you must have an account at the bank.

Hope this helps! Have a great time!

My bank has the machine, for free, at one location but not the other. I think it'd be worth a call :)

Now, you might think a massage with your mil is different, but I want something like the Rasul just for me. Steam, scrubs and quiet. how odd is that.
