Soon to be new owners

We just passed ROFR on 86 points at BWV. The closing company tells us we should close within two weeks and then Disney won't have us in the system for ten days. We were hoping to go to Disney on March 1st. I know it's probably crazy, but is there any way we'll be able to use our points to stay at any DVC resort with only a week and a half to make a reservation?

May I ask - are you first time owners? I've been trying to figure out - can you buy less than 150 points on a resale to become owners? Thanks!

I've called Member Services from the airport and I've also gone straight to the front desk before and gotten in. I wouldn't try that on New Years' eve but I wouldn't rule out the possibility for you. Good luck

Yes, we are first time owners. If you buy through Disney you have to buy a minimum of 150 points. We bought through resale, where I believe the minimum is 25 points. Disney has right of first refusal on all contracts, however, and as I've read on these boards, Disney has been buying back most of the smaller contracts. We were lucky to get through. If you are interested in buying, read these boards, as they have been an invaluable source of info for us.

I have gotten lucky and gotten a room from the airport also. However, if you have definite plans you might want to book a back up (maybe off site where the cancellation policy is easier!) The times I have done it, I was going when it was very slow and figured that there was an empty hotel room in Orlando so I wasn't paniced.
