Sony or Dell...

I am looking into getting a new laptop. I have a Sony digital camera so the Sony laptops with the Memorystick slots appeal to me. I also LOVE the XBrite screens on the Sonys but other than that I don't know anything about them. Are they good computers? I know Dell computers are great. If you own or have owned a Sony or a Dell tell me what your opinion is.

I just bought a Dell laptop two months ago. I, too, was deciding between Sony or Dell, and went with the Dell because of price. I was able to get a lot more in a Dell for the virtually the same price a moderate Sony offered.

I was able to get a bigger screen, 8x DVD writer, extra memory, a few other things for $200 less than the small Sony.

This thing is so small and light....if money isn't an issue for you, I say go sony

I'm very partial to Sony. Everything we have in our house including Digital Camera's are Sony. We use Dell workstations, laptops and desktops at work to which are brand new and they crash constantly. My Dell worstation at work is not even a year old and it had to be re-imaged three weeks ago. My mother bought a Sony Vio three years ago and has NEVER had a problem with it. Yeah Sony's are a little more ex*****ve but you will be happy with it in the long run. We are buying a Vio for Christmas and I cannot wait. Dell's are good machines too but they just crash too often for me.

I have three Dells and love them all. Wouldn't consider another brand.

I would think the Sony is a good unit, they do make quality merchandise. All my audio-video equipment, everything, is Sony, tried to standardize, and have been most pleased.

My current laptop is Dell, as are my two desktops, all fine.

I'm probably biased since dh is a Dell salesman, but I've had my Dell for 2 years and outside of the fact that I blew up a monitor, I've never had any problems! Not to mention, even though this was not my original monitor it was still covered by my warranty and was replaced with no problems.

Need a number for a good Dell salesman?

I have no experience with Sony, so I can't comment on which is better. But I do own a Dell and have had Dell's at work and I can say that I do like them and think they make a good product.
