Son's first swim competition

My DS (6) had his first swim competition on Saturday. He competed in freestyle and backstroke. He just found out today at team practice that he placed 4th in both events (there were 33 children in his age group). The coach also named him swimmer of the week.

I am so proud of my little fish.

Congratulations to your little guy!!!! Swimming has always been one of my favorite activities and when I was younger, (many, many moons ago), I used to compete in freestyle and backstroke, also.

Your son is starting at a very young age and it sounds like he's doing terrific!!!

My 6yo son started in preteam this summmer. I think if he had of had lessons this winter and spring he could have swam a length and been on the regular team, but he hasn't been in the pool since last summer. He's having fun at preteam and will meet a lot of kids and will hopefully want to continue in swim team next summer.
