Sonic has arrived in New England - MA.

yep, I drove by it yesterday. I live down the street in Danvers. You will not find me there. unless they have veggie burgers!
I do however miss from years ago the A & W Root-beer restaurants!!!! Anyone remember those?
i live right near one of those! i love it. they have the BEST hotdogs!

Now I only have to wait for Long John Silvers and Red Lobster! I hate seafood, but love a bargain! Im tempted to buy 10 lbs of shrimp for $5.99!!!!!!!

There's a Long John Silver's/Taco Bell combination on rt 1 in Dedham, right down the street from my college...one of my staple places to go for lunch between classes lol

Is it on 114?

You might have a long wait for Red Lobster to come to MA or New England. We have fresh seafood all around. Why go for Red Lobster? :scared1:

There used to be a Red Lobster right outside the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, years ago, anyone remember it? Its something else now, I think maybe a BBQ restaurant

it was a pretty good red lobster and always crowded, we went for the cheddar biscuits LOL

We really like Sonic.

The hamburgers and hot dogs are good. The limeaids are yummy. The onion rings are great and plentiful. Some Sonics still serve the Jr Banana Splits. If your's has them, get one. For 99 cents, it can't be beat. It might not be on the menu, so ask for it.

The only thing about Sonic is that you can't tip through the carside credit card machine, so I always have to remember to bring a dollar.

Our local carhops all skate.

Just checking through my files: Birch Run, Troy, Clinton Township, Portage, Rochester, Southgate, Sterling Heights...and up on the board Westland.

Never fails...the Sonic thread comes up. Peabody is new and the Boston area is coming open and will fill in. Initially looks like the franchisee has 17 pegged for the area/territory.

In the Sonic world the "under the counter" in the development end is the debate of the onion rings...whether to continue or not. It's obvious that a large percentage of operators don't operate the machine properly and it affects the product. Also as well is the new standard double platten griddle for the burgers. That's NOT an option...it's standard now for all new projects. I hear it is affecting the quality of the product.

Sonic's strong following has always been the dessert end. That continues as we are seeing a change in the stores and volumes...particularly so in PA.

I always hear about the crowds that come out to the opening and directing traffic for hours on end. That ALWAYS happens in a new market.

I see up on the board in Sept/Oct WA, TX, WI, OH, PA, NJ & MD.

Now...back to your regular Sonic grand opening discussion.

We love Sonic. I LOVE their Apple Juice slush. It is so good! And I love the Oreo Sonic Blast as well. To me it is MUCh better than DQ. We don't eat there often because we don't live real near one. But we do always tip our person and ususally 20% or more. They are high school kids and I would hate that job, especially in the MN winter.

Teach them how to work the silly machine. Do not get rid of onion rings.

I don't want to have to hurt anybody.

We've got Sonic opening this week in the (just south of) Cleveland area. I'm guessing they don't wear skates in the snow!!?? I've never been to Sonic, but they have so many commercials for it here you'd think there was one on every corner!

Oh Sonic...how I love thee.

My wife, my sister and I all took the trip to Peabody last night. For years, our TV stations have been teasing us by showing us Sonic commercials, only there was no Sonic in our state! So, when we heard about the grand opening, we knew we had to go. It's only about a 20 minute drive from our house, but being that it was right after work, because of the traffic it took us about an hour to get there. Then, the parking lot was packed. There was a line stretching from out to the highway just to get in. It took us one hour to get into the parking lot, and another hour to order. We had no idea the wait would be that long.

It was insane, but the food was so worth it. I had the chicken strips basket with the country gravy and cheese fries, with a cherry lime-aid. Delicious. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's...they've got nothing on Sonic!

I'm in Michigan. I know about the Clinton Twp, Flint, Commerce Twp (recently opened), Southgate, Birch Run and soon to open Troy & Westland locations. Never heard about one in Rochester and Sterling Heights :confused3. Where and when are those opening?

I love:

Lemon Berry Slush (yummy!!!)
Diet Cherry Limeade (made w/ Sprite Zero I believe)
Jr Burger on the 99 cnet menu
#1 burger

I was soooo sad when they stopped selling the BLT. It cma eon Texas toast and was so delicious (I lurv texas toast!). I was also sooo sad when the closed the 2 locations nearest me. None of the ones in Raleigh are on a normal route for me, so I have to specifically plan to go there (no more impromptu stops!).

I drove by it on my way to Fenway on Monday night. Didn't feel inclined to stop.
Wouldn't that have been difficult anyway, since Sonic is on the away-from-Boston side of Route 1 (plus you'd be anxious to get to the game anyway, right)?

Not likely to happen any time soon; if you're from this (NorthShore) area at all, the 99 on Route 1 south, before Walnut Street, was originally built as a Red Lobster. It didn't last long.

Wisconsin? Where, could we be so lucky? Hurray!!

i can't wait to try it!

well...actually i can...i'll be waiting until the traffic dies down a bit (...uh...IF the traffic dies down a bit.)

but i'm still :hyper:

I have a friend who went opening day. She's been to Sonic lots before. She says she'll go with me, but now I believe I'll be waiting for the traffic to die down too.
