Sonic has arrived in New England - MA.

When ours first opened a few months ago the first day was like a dress rehearsal for the staff. Only invited guests were allowed in. The parking lot was packed all day, but they weren't 'officially' open. We drove up, we didn't have an invite, but there were a few open stalls, so the employee directing traffic let us in.

They have really good ice, small crunchy very cold, so sodas there taste extra yummy.

Lots of flavor combinations plus you can get slushes or creams (soda/flavor whirrered around with thier soft serve icecream)

I like orange cream slush

cranberry limeaide

and thier sodas

Food is pretty mediocre but they do have good

chili cheese fries

footlongs

corndogs

breakfast burritos

popcorn chicken

burgers and other chicken items are so so, breakfast sandwiches are greasy and not very good

Oh and 2 to 4 pm is HAPPY Hour....half price sodas slushes and limeaides

I have lived several places with Sonic's and never seen one where they wear roller skates. One thing I like there are corn dogs--you don't find them very many places. The chili cheese dog is also good, if you like a big sloppy generic type.

Some of the food is pretty good, I think. It's really a matter of opinion. One thing about Sonic (at least around here) is that you can order anything even if it's not on the menu if they have the stuff for it. A few times I've been craving Figaro fries and I would order tots (I prefer their tots over their fries) with cheese, ranch, lettuce, tomato & bacon! It's not quite the same, but it will do in a pinch!

My favorite drink is a cherry vanilla Diet Coke! :thumbsup2

We love Sonic especially the drinks! I love the chocolate & vanilla shakes. The strawberry slush is too die for!!! The food is great too!!! The ones here in Michigan are always super busy!!

We just got one a few months ago in Kingston Ny. We have only been once so far. Food wasn't bad and the kids liked the ice cream. We don't have a dairy queen around any more - ours closed about 5-6 years ago or more maybe than that - lost count. It was funny, we were so excited to be getting one and then we have only been once since it opened. LOL!!!

the lemon berry (it's strawberry) slush is to DIE for! BIG hunks of lemon and strawberries!
OMG, SO good! I forot about that one! I usually do strawberry and LIME. :thumbsup2

yep, I drove by it yesterday. I live down the street in Danvers. You will not find me there. unless they have veggie burgers!
I do however miss from years ago the A & W Root-beer restaurants!!!! Anyone remember those?
Ours has veggie burgers...

OMG, have you been to the Commerce Twp. one? It's been open about two months... you STILL can't get in off of Pontiac Trail, they make you go in on Haggerty!

We always go to the one in SoCal when we go to Disneyland because it's not too far and the only one I know of. I love the strawberry slushes especially half-price. The hamburgers and chilidogs aren't bad either. We are going to DL this weekend, strawberry slush here I come!!

No we haven't made it to the one in Commerce. We almost went a week ago but the line was super long. It's funny cause we were coming out of Walmart and was trying to figure out how to get in from Pontiac Trail but they had the entrance blocked off so we drove to Haggerty to try and get in and woowww it was crowded. We've been to the one in Clinton Twp and Southgate. We live closer to the one in Commerce Twp so hopefully we can get in there when its not busy.

Glad to know the Sonic in Commerce sells veggie burgers. My MIL is a vegetarian so i may get her one. Thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2

Thanks for the news. I was just talking about this at the begiining of the summer that I wish we had one here.

Ill have to take a ride soon!

Hope it doesnt turn out to be another disappointment like Little Cesaers and Quiznos. I waited forever, seeing commercials on TV etc.., and didnt like either. I guess Ill always be a papa ginos/dangelos girl!!

Now I only have to wait for Long John Silvers and Red Lobster! I hate seafood, but love a bargain! Im tempted to buy 10 lbs of shrimp for $5.99!!!!!!!

No Sonics up here, but for the person asking about A+Ws, most are now owned by the chain (that also owns Pizza Hut/Taco Bell/etc) and they're pretty generic. If you can find one that is actually owner owned, they're DELICIOUS (there's one that's been close to my mom's in Racine County, WI for the past 30 years). Heck, we just got two Culvers here in the Southern U.P., so we're thrilled!

Sonic is my faveorite Burgers-Wendy's are 2nd place

I never eat Mc-a-Dees or BurgerKing

Just got a Lemon Berry Slush from there today. It was YUMMY!! I had big hunks of strawberry coming up my straw! :thumbsup2 DELICIOUS!!! We've also had other slushes: grape, lime and cherry. :thumbsup2

I think the food is EXCELLANT for a fastfood place. It's way better than McD's (which isn't saying much) but I'd prefer it over BK & Wendy's too.

LOVE their burgers (have chopped onions). They have real corndogs - ya know FRIED & the tater tots are fried too. YUM! ANd the grilled cheese is buttery & cheesy. Great prices on the burgers for the size. I often get the kids Wacky Pack 'cause the regualr burgers are so big. Oh yea & the kids toys are usually academic or useful (like a straw)

OVer the summer we went for 1/2 price slushes a few times they have the cutest little icecream sundaes for $1 - perfect for the kiddos - have candy toppings on them.

They wear skates here most of the time

Ohhh Sonic in MA is opened? I had heard about this but never really looked into it! I remember a couple of years ago my roommate and I were joking about taking a road trip to NJ during Spring Break (at that time the closest Sonic) to try it because it was always advertised on TV, lol. We joked about going to NY for White Castle, Maryland for Crab Cakes and Philly for Cheese Steaks while we were at it

There was an A&W in Brockton near DBF's work but they closed it a couple months ago :sad2:

You might have a long wait for Red Lobster to come to MA or New England. We have fresh seafood all around. Why go for Red Lobster? :scared1:

the food isn't great, and its really expensive, but if you go between 2-4 its happy hour and the drinks are half price! the drinks are wonderful, and thats the main reason most people go. you can have anything you want made, really. if you want a grape, vanilla, orange diet dr pepper, you can have it. :)

car hops are paid minimum wage, so they're not expecting to be tipped, and you don't have to, but you can.
