I love this clip of Circle of Life. This is the Broadway cast's first rehearsal back from the pandemic after a year and a half being closed for the pandemic in Mar 2020. This was back in August. They are in the lobby of the Minskoff theatre. I guess they weren't ready to be back on stage yet as they'd have to pay to have stagehands on hand for them. (Union regulations and all.) And that would add more people in the theatre.

I still get weepy every time I watch this. It has been a looooong, slow road back to re-opening Broadway. And they still aren't out of the danger. Many shows closed back down or closed completely in the last few weeks. Some are now experimenting with taking a hiatus for a few months, and coming back in the late spring or summer when the tourists are back in the city.

Director, Julie Taymor is talking at the beginning. Tshidi Manye (who moved for this show from So. Africa,) has starred as Rafiki since 1997.
