They are indeed. . . I despise hiphop, the only hiphop songs I like are well... None really. I used to be into that.. I think that hip-hop is a ten year trend.. As were new-wave, and metal.. ETC.. Like New-Wave... In the 70s and eighties lasted for about twenty years, and we've never heard a new band of that genre since. Although rap has been going strongly since the later seventies.. Hopefully rap will just die by 2010.. As New-wave did in the 90s.(That's not 100% true, as there ARE some old bands still around. But when they're gone nobody will be in the genre.)

basically ANY song can be taken badly by anyone, weather it be disney or not. Maybe staff or other ppl who make guide lines need to think as the player. you know what i mean

Well then I hope punk rock is gone by 2010. People have different likes and opinions, and some people like rap. So next time, before you say something think about others and their feelings. It's not just about you and what you like, heck others may hate punk rock as much as broccoli dipped in octopus guts. Some may think it's just wrong and people who like it have bad taste.

Can we please not down different music genres. Music is a way of life in many cases and reflect on a person in more ways than 1. To say you hope that rap is gone by such and such time frame because you like another kind of music is putting those that like that kind of music down and basically saying that they are inferior to you. And that is not what we are about here.

Everyone is entitled to being able to like whatever kind of music they want. But this thread is not about which music is good and which is bad, which needs to stay and which should go. Let's please be civil about this and just answer based on what the thread is about. Should songs be allowed in VMK Signatures.

Sexual innuendo can be included with so many words these days. Part of it has to do with the sex-addicted culture we dwell in. Part of it has to do with the Shakespeare esque "dictionary dancing" people enjoy. Shakespeare in alot of his work included many perverse references to sex that still misses or hits readers today. He used what many vmk'ers would call dictionary dancing. VMK should not block words which are rarely used for sexual reference. My biggest complaint with the game is the lack of words we can speak(another thread). Since VMK is both an MMO and a "kid-friendly" game, it should be up to us the user's to report any misconduct including signatures. The mods on VMK can not be everywhere at once nor should they try and curtail more words. It's been said that an MMO is only as good as the people who play it. If your upset about a signature, do something about it.

As for hip-hop songs, most of them are hardly "kid-friendly". Just because kids listen to the tracks doesnt excuse anything. However, hip-hop music is not the only genre with perverse lyrics. Any form of popular music has lyrics that discuss sex and violence in excessive detail.

Music lyrics(VMK safe) are regardless a good sig. A person's favorite music or lyrics can tell alot about them. I have a Pink Floyd lyric in my sig

Have you listened to all rock and pop music? It doesn't matter the genre...songs will be inappropriate and others won't...it isn't just Hip-hop and rap.

Correct. There are songs in every genre of music that would be very inappropriate for VMK. And I should know since I've listened to just about every genre of music.

I personally don't care for today's rap and RnB. But, I would not discriminate against those who want to use parts of lyrics that are appropriate.

Ummm...A 10 yr trend? Yeah. Ten years from the 1980's? More like (currently) 25 years in the mainstream. I've been around and listened to the beginnings of Hip-Hop.

And New Wave is still around. Just slightly changed. As all music does.

As stated, everyone has their own tastes in music. And it's a way of life for many. I, myself, prefer Trance music. A genre that most of you have probably not really heard much of.

So just, because you dislike a certain type of music, don't hate those that do and the proper parts of the lyrics they may use.

Really, to just say rap and hip hop, while I don't like it, is major stereotyping on the part of the artists and their fans. I mean, country ( Yay stereotyping ) is about sleeping with one's mistress, alcohol, and NASCAR. Three very dangerous things. rofl It is the good stuff that should be kept in signatures. It is all good, except for that darn religious stuff.

Sorry to go OT, but did you notice that VMK doesnt allow you to say the word Bible? I guess we live in a Brave New World where the Bible prevents people from being "happy" and "secure". Pass the soma please

I agree that some people have inappropriate parts of songs in their signatures, and that shoud not be allowed, but in my opinion, even if the song is bad, as long as the part that is in their sig is appropriate it is fine.
