I just wanted to let all of my friends who may have tickets on Song/Delta to/from Washington Dulles on/after May 1 know that all Song service is being discontinued at Dulles (IAD).

They had rebooked my August non-stop flights into connections. The only way I found out was I happened to check my itineary tonight to verify a flight time.

After speaking to 2 customer service represenatives and a supervisor, they agreed to refund my money. Everyone was very polite and professional. They however did not seem to understand my concern about not being notified.

I explained that the only resons I choose Delta was: the 7am fight got into MCO early in the day and becaude the flights were direct. Delta now offers only 1 non-stop from IAD and that is in the evening. That would effectivly waste my entire first day (we can not travel the day before due to other circumstances). I am travelling with 2 children and a very nervous adult.

Thanks for the info. This is terrible. I take this flight ALL of the time. Will have to start watching other airlines for my spring trip.

Why did they do this?

This leaves only United as the only non-stop out of dulles to MCO. BWI is another 30 minute drive on top of the hours drive I have to Dulles. I'm really bummed. Since I'm on this flight tomorrow, I will be asking. Probably because the flights are almost always empty.

An update: I wrote SONG today and asked for more info. They wrote back and said because of business reasons, service out of Dulles Airport has been discontinued.

My only hope is that Delta brings back the wonderful non-stop flights we had out of Dulles, before SONG started in September. They surely didn't give this airline a chance. It started in September and didn't even make it to Spring break or the ever busy summer season.

For all of you that have SONG at your airport, keep this in mind that this could happen to you too.

Have a wonderful trip. I was able to rebook on United for only $6 more per ticket (both direct flights). We live on approach to Dulles so it is my favorite airport (short drive - 20 - 30 min max).
I always have the worst luck at BWI - the long term parking shuttles are awful there. Plus the dirve is at least an hour (if there isn't too much traffiic). US Air flies direct from National.

I had the impression that not may people we affected by the discontinuation of service and that Song/Dleta felt they were under no obligation to tell me anything had changed. I would not count on the direct flights coming back anytime soon. They already had both of the connecting flights in their schedule so this just helps to fill the planes.

We are staying at the WL for the first time in April.

It's horrible that they did that, and didn't even notify you!! I'm glad you were able to rebook!

Thanks for the information, we're flying out of Boston and Song has been my choice of airline thus far..I'll be sure to keep an eye out!

Today's Washington Post is reporting that United's TED service will begin out of dulles on April 7th. It will compete with JetBlue and Southwest. I booked our April 28-May 8th trip last night because United is the only non-stop right now out of Dulles. $176 rt. Still no word whether Delta will take back their regular non-stop flights that were available before SONG stepped in in September.
